Enzo M surprised me tonight. Thought he only had one thing in his armoury but tonight he boxed brilliantly. For me one of the best performances by a British fighter in a long time.

I now have the potential Haye v Maccarinelli fight a lot closer.

I honestly thought he would crumble firstly under the pressure of being top of the bill and secondly Braitwaite's experience. Props to Braithwaite for taking the shots but Maccarinelli's raking jab is going to have Daivd Haye thinking if they were ever to meet.

Not once have I ever given Maccarinelli a chance at world level, tonight he proved me wrong.

Enzo is still improving his basics are better than Hayes, and learning every fight. Its another year before we see the best of him I feel.

A critical aspect regarding the Haye vs Mac fight is also the fact that Enzo has comeback from the brink to win.

Enzo is getting faster and his jab has improved 10 fold.

He backs up in straight lines which could be problematic down the line, he needs to be stepping off to the side.

Still, a very mature and measured performance for the most part. He sunk in some vicious body shots didnt he? It showed Big Truck came to the fight in shape.

I've been a fan of Enzo Maccarinelli for a good few years now, but even I was surprised by some of his work tonight. I remember having a discussion with Stu Jones about 2 years ago (although Stu may not), and his lazy left hand was something we could both agree on. Well, not tonight, he was excellent with the left, both with the jab, and the way he turned it over into the hook. Really good, controlled performance tonight. Maccarinelli is clearly prepared to work hard and listen in the gym. On tonights showing nobody will have an easy night with him, and what an improvement that is on the fighter who was all at sea against Bruce Scott..

Well I don't remember the actual conversation... but yes, his jab was awful. I remember Gary Delaney out jabbing him fairly frequently in their fight. I was a fan of his all action style, but he used to frustrate me cause he would have the reach over most, but wouldn't utlise it cause he couldn't jab.

As I said in another thread... what a well managed fighter. Well done to allegedly and Dean Powell for putting on the perfect matches to get him to learn.... Bobby Gunn and maybe one or two others aside.

I have to agree that Enzo is a real solid world titlist now.

He is using his natural advantages in a mature and measured way like TT says. He has considerable power at this level too. I'm not sure how you will be able to change the big guy's movement from straight line to lateral when he goes on the backfoot, but would certainly like to see his chin and arms tucked in. I would also like to see him take a step or two back, anchor his feet and unleash that straight right hand at times too.

Well, in fairness Stu, I wouldn't expect you to, I made it sound like we'd discussed the point in depth, when in reality you made a valid point in a thread I authored long ago..... not really a discussion as such. Still, I remember it, because I've championed Enzo for a while now.

Almost faultless performance I thought, was very impressed by those crushing body shots he landed so often, quality jab. I doubt many other Cruiserweights in the world would have proven as durable as Braithewaite was tonight.

In that fight, he was able to change angles. He didn't just back up in straight lines. He'd subtly reposition or keep Braith off with a thudding jab. It was a solid performance in getting the right position, knowing when to punch, when to smother, when to stay behind a jab, and when to punish WB.

Enzo's technique is very solid and combined with his power makes him a formidable fighter. He uses good basics. The knockdown punch was excellent. Great that he can make 194. That could be a bit of a message to Haye who has trouble making the limit.

Typical that they want the Haye fight now, with Haye increasingly drained and Enzo coming in 6 bloody pounds under. Then again, it's the promoter's specialty in getting opponents at the right time to get the results and get the best from the fighter.

Enzo looked like a world champ last night. Braithwaite was a very good idea.

after last night i dont think haye will go near maccarinelli ???? for me as i said before he has calmed down a lot and is thinking about his punches his chin still comes up a bit to much for me but he proved he can take a good shot i thought is was a very good outing for the (big mac) :D i think he'll have to start eating the big macs if he ever wanted to move up to heavy 6lbs under the weight david haye take note

Good performance by Enzo, who impressed me I must say.

Although there are much tougher assignments out there,Braithwaite was a good test, even though he looked the semi-retired(and I assume of now, retired)fighter he is.

Still favour Haye to beat him though.Although,it's by no mean's a foregone conclusion.

Still,we won't ever see this fight happen.
After Mormeck,Haye is gone from the cruisers.

Enzo should gun for a unification fight next.

I think Enzo should take Adamek next. Cunningham is likely going to be negative and throw slaps (American slickness 21st century for you). Adamek would at least be a good offensive fight and some more practise. Wait till Marco Huck's IBF champion IMO is the best idea. Or let Cunningham get older and more lethargic.

Maccarinelli gave an absolutely superb performance :box:
Paced himself well and although he took a few; his counter punching was
awesome.
How Braithwaite survived the twelve I'll never know! that uppercut nearly removed his head from his shoulders.
But that commentary again  what were they on about in the tenth?

Braithwaite was strong but never looked in danger of taking it...........IMHO.

Big up to Maccarinelli for a solid all round performance.
What an excellent night of boxing :TU:

Adamek vs Maccarinelli would be a very good fight, imo. Adamek has fought in the UK before I believe, let's hope it happens soon! :TU:
