Why on Earth...

Post by Marlin »

is Solomon Haumono rematching Alex Mene!?!

This is supoosed to happen on the 3rd of next month in NZ. First the fight gets knocked back NSW so they do it in QLD. Solo dominates him over three rounds, Mene shows nothing, and now they're having a rematch!?!

Come on Solo (or perhaps Johnny) its time to step it up. At the very least don't rematch blokes you have already embarrassed...

There is a problem with the shortage of Heavyweights in the Pacific area. Haumono's people probably want to keep him busy but are worried about moving him up in class too soon. Some trainers still remember the job Jose Torres, in his decline, did on Bobby Dunlop back in the '60s and the short order destruction of Tony Mundine a few years later by Luis Rodriguez.

Izonretti, Kennedy, Fitzgerald, Briggs, Tutaki, Tai, Chauncy, De Mori, Wilson. All better options then a re match with a bloke he beat easily, and all fights I'd think Solo should win.

That would be a good fight, At least he would learn a few things instead of beating the same guy again.

even though ultimately solo would be to well conditioned and to much of an athlete for the coalminer i still think that big col would give him a fewe problems before losing the decision or being tkod.. lets not forget the big fella has had 50 odd fights, been in the ring with mirovic 4 times, ricky thornberry twice, kali meehan twice , shane cameron, corrie sanders and recently took a young fit oleg platov 10 rounds. he definately has a fdew tricks in the bag even if he is old n unfit i wouldnt write him off completely

I agree, mate. I can't see Haumona banging Big Col out early (sure, it's possible but not likely to me) and if it goes some rounds Wilson will have some success.

Certainly a better proposition for the fans than those 'fights' he's had with short fat islanders with no ambition.

Of course, maybe his management know what we can only surmise...

Couldnt agree more with what is being said, why do it again when there are other big men around that he could fight,

yeh who knows, i mean at the moment he is hyped for being an ex football player who can actually box very well who is trained by the great johnny lewis so im sure that on events like mundine undercards he is getting quite an attractive purse. if johnny thinks he is to green to take on the likes of big bog or col just yet and id say he is a little bit, their are stacks of big men in aus who can box a bit and have showed some resilience or skill or toughness like someone said before pat kennedy, nathan briggs, izonritei etc. i would love to see big sol trading with these boys

I would like to see big Solo fight Nathan Briggs, but doesn't Nathan fall into the fat boy category? His record is up and down like a Myers lift!

I second that, Someone would be KOd if Haumono fights the Nasty boy.

Maybe so, I still remember him being almost KOd in about his 5th fight, The bell saved him and his opponent let him off the hook in the next round by showboating. It was on the card with Green Vs Smallman i think and Roy Jones Jnr was doing comments from ringside.

Nathan Briggs lacks drive. He's a bloke with plenty of skills, but he just doesn't put them to use. I think Solo would handle him pretty easily.

Might be a while before we see him in against a live opponent though

Despite his level of opposition Solomon does seem more committed this time round. I don't think Johnny would have continued to train him if he wasn't. With his mind on the job I can't see Haumono losing to too many of the 'fringe' Aussie Heavyweights. Of course I can't be certain as he hasn't fought any of them yet...
