BoxRec Change Problems
BoxRec Change Problems
As a matchmaker, I use BoxRec extensively. Generally I like the new look but there are some important factors that are missing. The first has been pointed out already. That is the missing KO count with the record. Counting just takes up time,
But, the most important problem is the lack of the "matching" function. We've lost the ability to find the active fighters in a desired weight class from a particular country. The lack of this function makes BoxRec almost ineffectual for matchmakers.
Please see what you can do about rectifying these difficulties.
Thanks

Perhaps I was unclear. This is it built up by element. We need the following:AntonS wrote:??active fighters in a desired weight class from a particular country.
Ratings for each country will give you that. Active = fought in the last 12 months.
The ability to see active fighters (active = fought in the last 12 months)
The ability to see all active fighters from a particular country
The ability to see all active fighters from a particular country of one weight class.
Sometimes matchmakers take 3-4 fighters from the same country. Then they serve as cornermen for each other and travel expenses can be minimized.
One thing that would be cool is including KOs in the rankings. I link to this site when I write news on my website. It is way easier to see the KOs in the rankings, instead of clicking on the fighter and wait for it to pop up.
It would also be cool if the KOs were include on the opponents, when you are looking on a fighters record. Then it would be easier to see if a fighter is matched in a specific way. Some fighters are protected from hard punchers because they have a weak chin. That could easily be seen, if the KOs also stood there besdie the record of w-l-d.
Keep up the good work.

Great news! Please hurry the "Match" function. Being without it is causing us matchmakers a whole lotta grief.Ric wrote:According to the creator of this site, in a message to the Editors, "the new system will have all the functionality of the old plus more." It will just take a little while to implement everything a step at a time, I imagine.
BTW, I'm sure that the flash ads that you do on the home page are causing some people epilectic seizures.
I've just reviewed the "Rankings" function. You're right! That's all I need. In fact, it's somewhat better in that it's easier to match in the particular range of experience of each fighter. I'll assume that the "Current" vs. All-Time" equates to the old 365 vs. All.JohnShep wrote:OK, I'm looking at the match program now, what functionality do you want that the ratings screen doesn't give ? ie :-
Ratings = group by division + nationality order by rating
Match = ?
Great Job! Now all you have to do is make John Duddy Irish and I can die in peace.
Where are the ISO units of measure? What about the box wiki?
Only in America the old feet / pound system is used. The internationally agreed ISO units of measure are m / kg. So why did you disable the calculation function?
Why did you disable the box wiki links? So all additional information about the bouts is lost???

Having now worked a day with the "Ranking" function, I find it as helpful and in one aspect more helpful than the old "Match" function.
May I offer one suggestion? If you would, add the boxer's residence field. This would help us in making quick decisions as to whether we want to research a fighter from Chicago or or one from Seattle. For me, that's an easy one due to travel distances. But I'd like to be able to recognize that as soon as I look at a possible candidate.
Thanks

Is it possible to have a basic print screen option of the records (like there used to be) as this makes it easier to transpose the records to spreadsheets.
The way the records are shoved over to the right to make way for the google ad on the left also needs to be rectified on the individual fighters' records page.
Please.

John posted on the editors forum that this is coming and being worked on.el tigre del sur wrote:Is it possible to have a basic print screen option of the records (like there used to be) as this makes it easier to transpose the records to spreadsheets.

It would be cool, if it was possible to decide yourself, if you want to see rankings listed as one side or several sides with 20-50 or 100 fighters. Not just 20 per page (it takes so long to get an overview.
Another good thing would be on the records of the fighters. Could you include KOs of the opponents? Take Wlad. Klitschko: Instead of Lamon Brewster 33-3-0, Ray Austin 24-3-4 etc., it would be Lamon Brewster 33-3-0, 29, Ray Austin 24-3-4, 16 etc. Just like in the rankings.
