all this polital and religous bull is missing the point-pro boxing is a buisness and any boxer whether black, white, muslim or catholic needs to appeal to as wide an audiance as possible,Anthony is reducing his own popularityby openly aliegning himself with what appears a fairly radical muslim influance, sometimes its in your own interest to use your brain and play the joker rather then preach,Amir Khan is a muslim and no doubt proud of it but he doesnt try and stick it down everyones throat he either knows or has been advised to keep flying the union jack as its good for buisness being honest if amir came in drapped in an indian/pakistani flag drapped around him there are elements of support that would disappear-thats not being racist that is how it is,most of us see a boxer as a boxer ,but the boxer needs to know and should know by playing a religous chant your not endearing your self to the supporters who will ultimatly make you wealthy

Could you explain to me why wearing a scream mask was contradictory to his religion then? Does it forebid the wearing of scream masks in Islam, or masks of any kind?Albert wrote:Many of you are failing to see a fundamental point, if anyone was to or try to understand the muslim religion you will know Small has completely contradicted himself and its a point all of you are simply failing to see so it will be repeated.
Religious chanting/music fine, I acknowledge someone should choose what he wishes but to contradict it by wearing a scream mask, I am willing to bet many many practising muslims would have been embarassed to see Small commit such an act.
If he were a Christian, would it be permitted to wear a homer simpson mask?
I agree that it looked rather ludicrous coming in wearing a scream mask with Islamic music in the background, but I see nowt contradictory about it.
I don't think Small is very smart in how he markets himself, calling yourself the best thing ever then getting bashed up while making a bizzarre ring entrance isn't really creating much of a fan base, but it's not like there is anything morally reprehensible about it. Ill-advised? Perhaps. Reprehensible? hardly.

i just as i would say 70% of british servicemen do not agree with whats going on in iraq and would choose not to be there but part of being in h.m.f is that we dont get a choice where we go and dont go. taking the queens shilling means you go where your sent when your sent no ifs no buts just do it pte bessey and thats it your there.
out of the 3 airmen that died in basra today on average i would say 2 of those didnt believe in what was going on out there and if the had any chance of getting out of there they would be on the first plane home. there parent is sat at home knowing this. but thinking my boy is out there trying to help these people anyway. so i will have a look on the computer to see what my boy is doing out in iraq and whats going on out there. whilst searching the net they come across widespread video footage of servicemen and u.k personel being shot blown up and hung with there captors celebrating as if they had just won olympic gold and they read stories about whilst being hostage they get bummed on a regular basis off there captors. and in the background there is the sound of religous chanting(or whatever the music was) a few days later an officer calls to tell you your son is dead whilst sat there trying to come to terms with this. boxing comes on the television and an englishman enters the ring wearing a scream mask to the same sort of music as you saw our boys dying to on the horrific films you saw days earlier i know the chances are very slim of there being any bad meanings behind what he came out to but it just really shouldnt be done in todays climate its like when i was out there we used to throw water crisps chocalate sandwiches e.t.c to the locals but out of respect to there religions not once did we chuck them a bacon sandwich or stand there eating pork scratchings out of respect for there country and beliefs being that it is an islamis country in the mess halls we ate pork roasts and ham sandwiches but in public we never out of respect. just as anthony small should listen to that stuff in private or mosques e.t.c not in the public eye when this is a christian country and that music is used in videos of our lads dying[/quote]
First thing, this is not a Christian Country!! This is not a religious state.
Secondly, if they dont want to be there then they should not go, signing that line to get the pay check does not absolve you of responsibility, you cannot go into a foreing country and shoot guns and somehow think you are absolved of responsibility . . . by whom? who has the right to absolve them?
Thirdly, I really struggle to see how him playing the music he want means anything to the families of servicemen, dead or otherwise, he is a muslim, so why shouldnt he play islammic music, hell I dont even care if he is a muslim, he can play it anyway. It is his choice. I dont think there is a lack of sensitivity, I think the issue is hypersensitivity from the other side!

the simple fact is anthony smalls ring music was offensive, it wasnt particually offensive to me, but the fact that a thread has been started over this and people are voicing their opinions so strongly over this matter show that the "music" has rubbed people up the wrong way and not only a few people. anthony smalls may or may not of known this before hand but certainly will do now and if he were to have that same sort of music to his next bout it would be arrogant, tasteless and disrespectful

people who ive spoke to who dont own a computer never mind use the boxrec website have told me in no uncertain terms that they found the music to be in bad taste. so if nobody has told anthony smalls that people have found his entrance "music" to be offensive then ill show my arse in wollies windowoliverfennell wrote:Assuming he even reads the BoxRec forum....
Nice one Billy.billy bessey wrote:BUGS OH BUGS

a)just the same as you are now
b)better off then you are now
c)not exsisting
d)living in a mud hut speaking swahili
I am meeting up with my cousin next weekend who is a Marine and has just returned from his third tour of Iraq. Thankfully he has made it back in one peice (apart from a few cuts and bruises from an explosion).
He hates it out there but he "has a job to do" as he says.
well bugs you are a complete dimwit...firstly this country IS a prodominantly christian state..... secondly saying "if they dont want to be there they shouldnt go" is a very childish ill attempt at trying to prove a ridiculous point you know nothing about....... thirdly "i struggle to see it having any effect on servicemens families, dead or otherwise" how do you know? how would you ever know what a dead servicemans family think when they hear the music their family member died to !!
i have never been in the forces but agree completely with mr bessey where would you be without them where? not on your little computer sunshine! the music was a pathetic disgrace...you are a pathetic disgrace

i think you will find the "bigotted mob" have not said anything in the way of "ban muslims" we are simply putting across the point that smalls music was highly distasteful...and during the debate people have jumped on the kill all soldiers in iraq bandwagon.......just keep sat on your very narrow fence pocket rocket because one day soon you will surely fall off!

If Bessey really thinks that Muslims like Small should only listen to Arabic music in his own house cos this is a Christian country then he is a pratt and anyone who agrees with him is as bigger burke
If people cant see the differance between religious Music and calling for Jihad then I have serious concern for their tolerance levels.
And if we show this level of intolerance then it may actually 'prove the point' of the scumbag clerics who are telling them that the British are at war with Islam and that we think they are lower than rats

OK Billy, I will go with you to some extent there. I do believe that some mUslims should be more tolerant of our ways as a society..that Union Jack shit and the issue with the pigs is ridiculous and makes Muslims everywhere look daft..
Plus freedom of speech and liberty only goes so far. I dont want Abdul the cleric telling impressionable youths that its their duty to butcher Brits, nor do I want my daughter being taught by a teacher in a Burka..
If I went to Saudi and started walking round with my shirt off, drinking beer in the street and trying to get on with Muslim woman I could be in a bit of trouble..I wouldnt though cos I have respect for their culture...
But everyone has the right to follow their religion and not be pillaried for their choice of Music...
I repeat if we show this level of intolerance it can only have long term devastating effect for our future
Its religious chanting, not Jihad Music and anyone who is offended and who cant tell the differance is a moron..lets concentrate on the big stuff, intergration, winning the hearts and minds of the Arabic World..
Methinks that is a far better idea than the polorisation that a ban on what is really just an expression of his love for his religion would be

pocket you have the same concerns as billy but not on the same level. why dont you want your daughter taught by a teacher in a burka? why not? you want to embrace the arabic world so why not let them teach your daughter? so really pocket deep down you have the same concerns but show the same ignorance and hypocrasy as so many in this country! you say you wouldnt go to saudi and walk about with your shirt off because of respect for their culture yet you say people should be allowed to do as they please in this country? tell me 1 thing pocket if you went to a prodominantly muslim/islamic state and walked around casually with a christian cross freely hanging from your neck do you think you would be embraced as a pillar of the christian world and told you have free speech and free preaching do you honestly think that! and just 1 more thing pocket do you really think smalls has a love for his religion or he is just a small minded brainwashed idiot with 1 thing on his mind....to piss people off!

Listen, im not showing hypocricy...im talking about finding a centre ground between retaining A British(no Christian, its not a religious state) culture and not going so kneejerk that it deliberatly antagonises the Muslim world...so yeah, I have concerns but im not extremsist
Oh, and dont we consider this to be a forward thinking country? Are not Muslim countries a little bit behind us??
So rasputin, what do you want..how should we treat the Muslims in our country?? U answer me
And I dont know about Small so cant comment, if you do then im more than willing to take your view on board

So you're saying that because some countries are intolerant, we should be too? Very progressive argument...rasputin wrote: you say you wouldnt go to saudi and walk about with your shirt off because of respect for their culture yet you say people should be allowed to do as they please in this country? tell me 1 thing pocket if you went to a prodominantly muslim/islamic state and walked around casually with a christian cross freely hanging from your neck do you think you would be embraced as a pillar of the christian world and told you have free speech and free preaching do you honestly think that!
i dont post often, but, i felt the need to point this out. you ever been to egypt/jordan/syria/lebanon... the people who get the most respect in the street are the people wearing black robes and 10inch crosses hanging from their necks. if ur a muslim preacher ur looked upon as a peasant most of the timerasputin wrote:pocket you have the same concerns as billy but not on the same level. why dont you want your daughter taught by a teacher in a burka? why not? you want to embrace the arabic world so why not let them teach your daughter? so really pocket deep down you have the same concerns but show the same ignorance and hypocrasy as so many in this country! you say you wouldnt go to saudi and walk about with your shirt off because of respect for their culture yet you say people should be allowed to do as they please in this country? tell me 1 thing pocket if you went to a prodominantly muslim/islamic state and walked around casually with a christian cross freely hanging from your neck do you think you would be embraced as a pillar of the christian world and told you have free speech and free preaching do you honestly think that! and just 1 more thing pocket do you really think smalls has a love for his religion or he is just a small minded brainwashed idiot with 1 thing on his mind....to piss people off!

I find it amusing that in between all the emotional grandstanding, there is not doubt (and this is chronicled by the muslim 'holy' scriptures, teh Hadith) that Mohammed was an individual who had sex with an 8 year old girl, encouraged the rape of conquered tribes, and indulged in brutal murder of rivals. (very different from all the major religions.)
