Choice of venue for Calzaghe v Kessler

I for one would be happier if this fight was held at the Manchester MEN arena.

Having witnessed Calzaghe demolish Lacy there at 2am in a sweaty, electric atmosphere it was great.

I know there will be 60,000 plus fans cheering Joe on at Cardiff, but I think the slightly smaller venue would be better suited.

I can just imagine sitting in the Millennium Stadium until 2-3 in the morning. The bogs are a mile off and it's a nightmare to get back to you seat as I found at the Manfredo fight.

Take into account 60,000+ fans leaving the arena at the same time - ouch!

Anyway, I know nothing can be done so I'm just seeing what anyone's thought's are on this!

If I'm a business man, I go with the 60,000 venue. Makes you more money, makes you look like a better promoter and I think the atmosphere will be amplified if anything.

The M.E.N is all well and good but nothing beats fighting in front of 60,000 people screaming their head off.

will be fine at 2 am when the fight comes ont he adrenaline will keep ya going but as I recall going to Hatton Zoo there was a lot of hanging around prior to the main event, think the undercard actually finished an hour or so prior to the event.

its gonna be chilly in November in wales standing around waiting an hour plus. Just a warning.

I doubt it will be cold, the roof is going to be closed so not an outdoor event. Its being boasted as the biggest indoor fight ever.

Thats the first time I've seen the words Hatton, Zoo and undercard in the same sentence without the word shit being used

There was a decent break after Barnes-Okine(???) as I remember

it was shit yup and roof closed or not it will be cold still...Cardiff in Niovember in the middle of the night, they arent gonna put heaters on are they.

All I can compare is the atmosphere at the MEN for Hatton-Tszyu against the atmosphere at the Millenium Stadium for Calzaghe-Manfredo and the MEN wins hands down. I have never been a fan of stadium fights - venues like the MEN should be as big as they get.

I suppose they might get some industrial heaters, and if the place is totally packed maybe the body heat will keep it going.

However I tend to agree, a Stadium in November is unlikely to be very warm.

Big difference in the quality of fights though. The better and bigger the fight, the more noise people make.

The stadium has undersoil heating perhaps they'll have that on? I can't see it being freezing cold there with all the hoopla surrounding this card.

That's just to stop the pitch freezing in winter, it's not going to heat the whole bleeding stadium, they'd need fuggin gas jets coming through the soil for that, which as you can imagine would have serious drawbacks.

Unfortunately Guys. With no Vegas style site fees, fights like this just cannot happen without 20k plus fans in Europe.

This country makes me sick, it really does. We allow online gambling which allows people to fritter away money to nobodies benefit, but scupper the idea of casino-resorts, which would attract money from all over the world and feed it into the coffers of the exchenquer, and reinvigorate entire communities to boot.

So what if they are temples to mammon, people are going to waste their money on something, why not gambling and whooping it up, fornicate Brown and his presbyterian glumness, fekk off!

Brown has allowed the moral minority to scupper something which was a fantastic idea. Now that empty space in the O2 arena will be filled with some other bullshit.

Whoeheartedly agree, its a ridiculous decision to ban supercasinos, just because some compulsive-moaners started whinging.

i went there for a december concert and it was fine with the roof on actually.

cold queing up outside though.

I think 60,000 fans will keep each other warm and coffee and hot dogs should help also - Anyway we dont get the vicious cold winters we used to have - I used to watch speedway at Wembley in the 60s on freezing cold nights which of course was open to the elements and you didnt feel cold until you came out - It was the same on the terraces watching football, lovely and warm but feet like blocks of ice.
