Sky Surprise
Sky Surprise
Not one to be complaining about Sky putting on fights, but what's with them having Marquez-Barrios scheduled live in their planner for September 16th, yet there is nothing about Mayorga-Vargas on September 8th?
Fair enough, both Mayorga and Vargas have their best days well behind them, but this will be lots of fun while it lasts and certainly more entertaining than Marquez-Barrios. Marquez should box rings around him, just as Guzman did. The only reason why the Guzman fight was close on the cards was because he slept through half the fight.
Anybody else with me in thinking that Forrest to beat Baldomir is as sure a bet one can get in boxing at 4/6?

Much rather see Marquez-Barrios to be honest.
That said, KOTV showed clips from the Vargas-Mayorga press conference, and it all kicked off following Mayorga giving Fernando a back-hander. Vargas let fly with some full blodied punches, Don King took a tumble and actually appeared genuinely shocked by the turn of events

In fairness, Glen Johnson had been on the wrong side of some close controversial decisions and I think he's a better P4P fighter than Baldomir could ever be. I think Baldo is flattered by the Judah & Gatti wins. Judah has shown in the past that he can be very ordinary when not taking his opponent seriously enough and had clearly only prepared for a few rounds against Baldo. As for the Gatti win, we all know now how shot Gatti has been and all it takes is a naturally stronger man such as Baldo and Gomez to wear him down. I think the version of Gatti we have seen in his last two fights would struggle against even a club fighter who was a natural Welter. IMO Baldo gets beaten emphatically by all the top Welters out there at the moment - Margarito, Mosley, Williams, Cintron & Cotto.
Does a journeyman with ten defeats stepping up to Light Middleweight for the first time really have a live chance against a bigger man who has only ever been beaten by one fighter and has wins over Mosley twice on his record? I will be very surprised if Baldo wins four rounds or more.

Really keen to see if Bojoda can pick up the pieces and convert his early promise.steve689 wrote:Marquez-Barrios has a great undercard. Steve Forbes V Francisco Bojado, Rocky Juarez V Robert Guerrero & Kassim Ouma V Sergio Mora. Sounds good to me.
All in all an excellent undercard - great spot Steve!
I know you are a big Forrest fan Terry, but to be honest that Baldomir fight does nothing for me.. Should be a handy points win for Forrest with fairly repetitive action from what I knwo of the two guys involved.

Yep I'd say that's a safe betjohnswan1 wrote:

Nice one, had a fair bit on that. I said it here already that I would be shocked if Baldo won four or more rounds and he didn't. Needed that after tipping up Margarito to a load of mates a couple of weeks back.MightyWarrior wrote:Yep I'd say that's a safe betjohnswan1 wrote:

Never mind missing the battle of who's more shot , why aren't Sky showing possible fight of the year Rafael Marquez v Israel Vasquez .
It also has Caballero defending his WBA title against Lacierva on the undercard .
I could maybe understand it if they were showing the Morales v David Diaz fight , which has Rodel Mayol v Uslises Solis and a couple of prospects(Juan Manuel Lopez , Chavez jnr) on undercard but they're showing nothing .
