Former world title challenger Glen Kelly has been back in the gym for much of 2007 and today announced that he will be fighting again before Christmas.
Kelly said: "I decided at the beginning of the year that I would attempt to properly condition myself back to the weight which saw me at my winning best: light-heavyweight. I think suffering my first loss in 29 fights at the hands of Roy Jones Jr and then Paul Briggs a couple of fights later that I lost the hunger and desire that is needed to be a champion.
``I was kidding myself we moved up to cruiserweight to fight David Haye in England and suffered my third loss because of it. I spoke with my trainer Dino Billinghurst at the beginning of the year and we set ourselves some targets regarding weight – fitness – training disciplines and diet amongst other things. I have met those targets and goals and am now 110% ready to go again."
Manager Stuart Duncan said, "We will look at a number of local fights as a warm up before hitting the world stage again. We may go down the IBF path in the hope of getting a non-mandatory shot against Clinton Woods after his Gonzalez fight later this year. We are prepared to fight any local including IBF No.4 Danny Green to make that fight happen
Glen Kelly returns
I'm sure they could find enough OPBF type titles so he could fight at least once a monthAntonS wrote:No need to move to get a licence in Victoria, South Australia, West Auistralia where there is no age limit. However, he''ll be restricted to title fights in NSW.....Silly I know, but such is NSW law.
