That's like when Nigel Rafferty was given a title to fight for in his 100th fight - the "Black Country super cruiserweight title" - not recognised by the board but announced on the night and with a belt accompanying it.

Raffo lost, though, and the "title" was never seen again.

No Ian, I'm County Durham and South Yorkshire cruiserweight champ and so's my wife.

I read something a day or two ago, can't remember where now, about Lee McAlistair's upcoming WBU "title" fight (against Craig Doc btw.) Anyway, McAlistair himself went along the lines of "It will be good for Scotland to have a world champion." It really was bad. I can't stand it. McAlistair will not be a world champion. Arthur is not a world champion. Harrison wasn't a world champion. (Weird dream involving him last night - I was queing to get into a night club, and he went past sporting a hearing aid.) The only genuine title holder I can think of is WBA All-African champ Shane Cameron. Oh, hold on...

It gets worse jomo. From the BBC website...
McAllister had been tipped to face Brazil's Acelino Freitas, Mexico's Jose Castillo or the Uzbek, Artur Grigorian.
What are they smoking up there?

Well, Raffo lost and his title-winning opponent Jason Brewster is now retired. You'll have to get someone from down the pub to meet you for the vacant strap.

 I did see Freitas's name mentioned. Cripes. Imagine Freitas in Aberdeen to fight McAlistair for the WBU. Maybe the promise of lucrative defences at the Civic centre in Motherwell made him close to signing.

I dunno where they got the names from because Grigorian hasn't fought for over 3 years .
