hatton - another factor
hatton - another factor
its simply this; hattons poor showing prior to castillo has been put down to his blowing up like a fat pig between fights and having to concern himself to a large degree with losing tons of weight as well as preparing to fight.
this time, because castillo was only a few weeks ago, he has not piled on the pounds and looked pretty good to me ringside at wolverhampton the other day. his preparation is going to be spot on against mayweather without the burden of all the pints and pies he normally devours between fights.

Having spot-on preparation is one thing, going in there & beating a boxer as good as Mayweather is a completely different proposition altogether.
If Ricky pulls off the upset, then it would be marvelous. Long way to go though! Ricky will ahve to take his performance to another level in order for him to be victorious.
I'm excited already & the fight is over 4 months away.

I don't think I know of anyone with such a low metabolism as Ricky. I thought he looked a good stone heavier in Wolverhampton. He did look in good shape "for Ricky", but its still hard to believe how much weight he can put on in such a small space of time.
Plus the fight is 4 months away, Ricky won't be in camp for 4 months... so expect him to put on a few more pounds.

We know Hatton will be in the best shape of his life we can only hope the extra poundage now they have done it once against Collazo may be even better formed and serve him well.
Interesting we seem to have forgotten that despite being always in great shape Mayweather has buggered about a bit with his weight over the last few years as well, up as high as Light-Middleweight etc, he might not be as comfortable as we all seem to think, with all the fluctuating.
As for the fight, despite being a huge Ricky fan and hoping to get to the fight I do think Mayweather wins a ud by about 3-4 rounds in a very competitive fight.
Key for me is the first four rounds, Ricky will be putting it on him and these are the rounds Floyd needs to bank because I cannot see him living at Ricky's pace without taking at least 3 of the last 5 rounds off and thereby gifting them to Hatton on work-rate alone.
If Floyd cannot get the first four safely tucked away on the judges cards get on the edge of your seats lads because we really could have a contest on our hands, he simply has to get the earlies as he will be sharper, stronger and more agile, if he don't he's in big trouble because he ain't winning any of the last three thats for sure, he has never done this pace before.

I think Rickys best bet would be to get a body shot in like he did against Castillo. I think this would crumple Mayweather, who is too good defensively and too fast to get KOd with a head shot by Ricky.
I dont see Ricky winning on points. He needs to rough Mayweather up early and try and get some rib-breakers in

I think Hatton wins it. Billy Graham's a top trainer and he's had his eye on Mayweather for years.
Floyd seems to think he can step in the ring, turn the shoulder inward, make a neat step to the side and do a 1 punch counter to beat anyone.
Hatton won't let it be neat, and in terms of speed and pace combined, Floyd hasn't seen that since the Jesus Chavez fight. Floyd got a great win there, but he needed ALL HIS MOBILITY & speed to do it. It was not easy.
Vs Oscar, I don't care what others say, Floyd looked short on ideas and even flustered at times. Oscar threw in bunches to land one. I had Floyd losing most of the early rds but winning most of the late ones.
Oscar is not - nor has he ever been - a pressure fighter.
Hatton is.

Oscar is also a lot bigger than Hatton and a step above in the world scene even at his age( can u imagine Hatton Vs Hopkins) , Mayweather has beaten many pressure fighters before and at 147 Hatton has looked ordinary.Autobarn wrote:I think Hatton wins it. I really hope Hatton wins but i think that if Callozo can make him look bad at 147 then Mayweather is going to make him look like an amature.
I believe the Collazo fight was misleading. It's a southpaw right hook that is Ricky's weakness.ben k wrote:Oscar is also a lot bigger than Hatton and a step above in the world scene even at his age( can u imagine Hatton Vs Hopkins) , Mayweather has beaten many pressure fighters before and at 147 Hatton has looked ordinary.Autobarn wrote:I think Hatton wins it. I think Ricky's a well schooled, fast paced pressure fighter. At the very least I see him giving Mayweather a lot of trouble over the first 8 rds. For an aggressive fighter, Hatton has great balance and good lateral movement. Mayweather doesn't move mch anymore.
To be honest, I don't think DLH is an elite fighter anymore. He's bigger than Hatton, hits harder, but is also slower and uncomfortable moving forward.
I hope your right as i would love to see Hatton wipe the grin off Mayweathers mouth and his Uncles.Autobarn wrote:I believe the Collazo fight was misleading. i dont like watching odh anymore i think he is living on past glories, but he gave the blueprint on how to beat pbf without having the tools to do it himself.
hatton is far more suited to carrying out this policy of hot pressure with ring smarts thrown in. add destructive body assaults and great conditioning and stamina and youve got a convincing recipe for a hatton win even at 147 which because of having plenty of prep time wont worry the manc man overly on this occasion.
yes, pbf is favourite but i dont see hatton standing where he's going to be jabbed out of the fight.
i see this 60-40 mayweather - which means anything can happen.
personally, i'd love to be in ricky's shoes for this one. "let floyd deal with me and all the problems i'm gonna give him"

Don't think for one minute that Mayweather really believes all he has to is turn up, turn his shoulder away from away from Hatton's punches so they do not connect & that's all she wrote!
Floyd may say things like Hatton is a wrestler, he not on my level, etc, but Floyd will not underestimate Ricky in any way, Mayweather would be an idiot to think this fight will be a beeze for him & we all know when it comes to sport of boxing, Mayweather is no idiot.
Both guys will be prepared & not the other is bringing their A game.

I thought he wouldn't blow up this time, did he look like Ricky 'Fatton'? I wouldn't want to shed 33lbs but whatever works best for him though. I wonder if he was 180lbs (147+33=180)G-man wrote:Yeah, didn't say much new.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Anyone watch that?G-man wrote:If you want to see what shape he's currently in, he's on Loose Women today at 12.30.
Said he was 33lbs overweight (I'm assuming he means over 140) but he looked a 'healthy' overweight if that makes sense.

We've all moaned about Ricky's weight at some point, but until he doesn't make weight or under-performs, loses because of the weight fluctuation, I guess we can't mock him too much.
However, you can bet your life Mayweather isn't 33lbs over weight, that's for sure! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to learn Floyd has statred training for the fight. Mayweather trains all year round right?
What's more intriguing is that if Ricky is 33lbs over-weight now, what will he be when he starts training for Mayweather? It would be wise for him start now, because this camp, more than any other, needs to be about strategy, tactics, rather than losing weight.
When do we expect training to commence for Ricky? I'd have thought a three month camp at least?

20 stone in 3 years easy peasy
No way Hatton ever weighs 20st. Can't see thst at all. Hatton is only 5'6/7, so I don't think he could even get to 20st if he tried. What I mean is, there are some people who just eat/drink rubbish all the time & they don't even weigh 20st, and are bigge than Ricky.
It will be interesting to see if Ricky does indeed do some sort of training when he retires. It would be a shame if he were to just let himself go completely and lose all touch with exercise etc. However, on Hatton's website, I remember Kerry Kayes saying when Ricky does retire, he'll still train some-what as Ricky gets bored after eating rubbish, drinking alcohol after a certain amount of time.
