300,000 is probably pushing it a bit. I think Hatton-Tszyu did just over 200,000. I suppose it depends what channel it's on. If it's Setanta again, I'd expect numbers to be down a bit. Mind you, I can see this getting the BIG build up, so who knows?

I reckon with a big marketing campaign they will get untold people signing up to Setanta, this is the biggest fight featuring a brit since I don't know when. It's bigger historically than Honeyghan v Curry, on a par almost, though not quite, with Turpin v Robinson, Mayweather ain't as big as Robinson was.

I think you are underestimating how much hype they will give this fight.

GBP have now proven that you can get unprecedented sales if you sell a fight right and get the mass media behind it.

I don't think this fight is going to be anywhere near as big as Floyds fight against Oscar, Oscar is the biggest draw in boxing history, even surpassing Tyson and Ali, at least in terms of PPV's if not outright fame.

However, I think this has all the potential to be the biggest PPV in british boxing history. At the moment isn't it Bruno's second fight with Tyson? Or is it their first fight?

What I mean is that GBP may well produce something along the lines of the promo video last time. Not as expensive and lengthy, but something well put together to hype the fight.

Of course, the fact this fight is PPV would explain why Hatton took up the Mexican theme last time out.

Latin-American's are boxing's hardcore market these days.

Both Hatton and Mayweather donned Sombrero's (sp) for their last fight - different reasons but they all know the value of the Mexican market.

This fight could be huge. Months to promote it, two unbeaten in their prime fighters, contrasting styles. Two nations.....it has everything you need to promote the pants out of it.

Couldn't agree more.

I just hope that the promotors don't take the FW approach - a couple of cheap flyers posted up on the odd lamp-post, NO TV adverts whatsoever and an announcement on his website 2 days before the fight.

I find that hard to believe. It wasn't like the card come up at the last minute. It was announced a couple of months in advance, when he knew that there was no ongoing TV deal in place.

I'll accept that Warren handcuffed himself by dragging TV negotiations out to the eleventh hour.

That also doesn't explain the extremely average ticket sales (esp when compared to the upcoming UFC show at the same venue)

Yeah they could do all that, or just market it as Floyd Vs Hatton, you asked for it, you got it

Floyd plays the Dr Wagner role and talks shit but u still like him because he;s cool, Hatton plays Mistico and talks nice and humble and everyone likes him

I would not snub a trip to the gym for one to a cold Albert square but if I make it I'll look out for the guy clinging to Ricky's limo at 12.30 shouting "You said 10.30 you swines!"

I'm not complaining, sure, we've got most of the good shit down here, it's just I wished I lived further north for the boxing.

Do what I did many years ago, for a far better life - I was born and brought up in London, but the place just gets worse and worse - I didnt see a pig until I was 21 and that was at a Walls factory - The nearest I got to a cow was passing by on a train going to the coast - Now I can be in beautiful countryside in just over 10 mins yet I live in a city - The roads are busy everywhere these days but you can get about and park which is very much more difficult in the SE, almost impossible sometimes - The air is better with far less vehicles pumping out their toxic fumes, and all in all the quality of life north of London is so much better - I wouldnt go back if I was given a luxury flat in Mayfair - I think you deserve whatever you can get in London just for living in the place

Ricky seemed a little taken aback by Floyd's in yer face attitude. I know he looked calm enough, but he didn't come back with any zingers at all.

Hopefully he'll warm up to it a bit, he doesn't have to stoop to the low class PBF trash talk, but he should keep on mildly taking the piss out of Floyd, which he's good at. Floyd wont be used to that sort of thing, and it'll get under his skin.
Anything to get Floyd riled up is a good thing from Hatton's point of view.

Must have really dawned on Hatton at that press conf that he's in the superfight stratosphere now - must be a weird feeling and will take some getting used to.

Floyd is right though, say something! Get the press & casual fans talking and the PPV numbers could be through the roof. And boxings profile.
