Guys, I know he's not some long time National Champion or anything, but don't underestimate Duran Caferro at 125. He's looking good.

I not sure. But I seen unranked guys beat go into Trial and Beat No. 1 and No2 guys in back to back night.

Yes anything is possible.

But Williams is very sharps these days also.

I honestly don't know enough about a lot of classes to make an accurate judgement. I'm betting on Yanez at 106, Warren at 112; hoping for Caferro at 125, Andrade at 152 I think. Dominic Wade at 165, Chris Downs at 178, and Michael Hunter at 201+.

106 - Well with Yanez winning gold I understand the Pick there @ 106. Hurtado is very good very strong being 2004 Olympic trial Champion and winning 2007 western trails with just 1 1/2 weeks of training and 3 days later going to U.S. championship and having decent fight with Yanez it will be Awesome to see Yanez and him go at it now that Diego has had some time to get ready I surely go with Hurtado.

112 - Raushee well Im not sure what needs to be said here. Alafa is a nice kid and very skilled but yes Warren takes this championship. In fact it took a fighter as good as Raushee to beat out Hurtado in 2004.

125 - Williams id say over your pick of Caferro. Williams is the man at the moment.

152 - I like Hatley to put everything together and take this wieght class.

165 - Jacobs will also most likely here get this done.

AAboxing - 125 - Williams is the man at the moment? I would say that Willaims are the men at the moment at 125 - Hylon and Raynell. They are both very good. However, Rico Ramos is right there too, with Caferro and Pagan not far behind. It will be interesting. Wohosky had major nose bleeding problems at the US Chp and even with the ref wiping the blood it was still a problem.

106 - Yanez with Hurtado battling for #1.
112 - Warren unless something strange happens.
119 - Russell is my favorite, but he has some tough competition. Rios, Marroquin, Perales, Clark, DiPace and Ramos all are tough. Very interesting.
125 - As I said - Raynell Williams, Hylon Williams and Rico Ramos will all battle for #1. Pagan, Caferro and Rodrigues all are legit contenders too. Wohosky - I doubt it. Sommerville - I really doubt it.
132 - One of the most evenly matched weight division across the board. Magdaleno, Crawford, Belmontes, Gonzalez, and Ali are all evenly matched. Slaughter is young but good and could make a run. Menard - same as Slaughter.
141 - Molina - he surprised me to no end at the US Chp. I was very impressed. He has his work cut out for him at the trials. He will have to defeat some tough competition in possible rematches with Bryan, Solomon, and O'Connor. He also has to worry about Danny Garcia, Andre Sherard and Michael Dallas. I can't bet against Molina, but it is a very evenly balanced weight class and wouldn't be surprised if any of those guys won it.
152 - Andrade is #1 choice. He will have to battle Hatley again like he did in the NGG finals. Beyond those 2, I would say Dolton (He is very young and yet very good)and Thurman will be battling for the top spot. Kerwick and Melson - They have a shot, but I think they are long shots. Campbell is too young right now. Lopez would be my horse with the longest odds.
165 - A very tough weight class. Porter, Guerrerro, Nelson, Jacobs, Estrada and Wade. That is a tough bracket. Santos too is very good and sort of fell apart against Estrada - I think he is better than what he showed in that bout. Hardrick is my longest shot.
178 - Downs is literally head and shoulders above everyone else. A very tall (6'4" or so) light heavy who is the clear favorite. Shabazz, Crane, Riley and Conception will battle for the top spot and could emerge on top depending on the draw. Downs would need to have some tough bouts in a row and a poor performance or two to not win this division.
201 - Another wide open division for the top 4 or 5 guys. I have to disagree with a lot of the posters - I do not think Zimmerman will win it. He will battle as he is strong, conditioned and tough. He will have problems again with Wilder's height, reach and power. He will have problems with Graves' hand and foot speed. He will have problems with Willett as always, but Willett will likely have problems with his left shoulder. I just don't see Zimmerman emerging on top. Carey will battle but fall short. His height and reach give some guys trouble, but he will have his own set of issues against the height of Wilder and the foot movement of Willett. He looked bad against Guzman in that loss. Tettis could battle and emerge on top, but he is a long shot. Guzman will have problems with too many of the guys and will not emerge on top. Lawton is another long shot. If Willett is healthy he could battle for the top spot, but his shoulder keeps giving him trouble and I don't see him winning it. Graves needs to use his hand and foot speed against Wilder and throw more body shots (even if they aren't scored by the judges) if he wants to win in a rematch. It will boil down to Wilder, Graves, Willett (if healthy), Tettis and Zimmerman.
201+ - Hunter, Wilson or James. Bethel and Thompson are long shots. I don't like Thompson's track style boxing so I hope he doesn't win.

Bottome line many wieghts are up for grabs and im sure we will be surprised very much when its all over.

Sure shots are are tough to pick this time around. There is alot of pressure on these fighters and trainers as a team and sometimes the warm wrong and dont warm up enough and well they choke and you have a bad day it make it tough to get back in.

sure shots:
Hurtado - with time to train for trials. Yanez will need more than a gold medal from a weak Pan Am games field to keep Hurtado from being on team this time.
Raushee - is cleary the strongest sure shot here.
Downs - pretty much. pretty much in the bag for Downs
Wiiliams - very tough for me to go against. Rico will be tough and has great power but I like Williams for sure.
Molina I will have to add in this group also.

All other weight classes to me are up for grabs.

106 - won't happen. If anyone will upset Yanez it will be Hurtado. 112 - The only no brainer pick, but stranger things have happened. 119 - Russell is clearly the favorite. 125 - It would be an upset. 132 - His attitude may cost him. 141 - Bryan could definitely do it, but it is a strong field. 152 - Kerwick would be a major upset winner. 165 - Porter is one of the favorites in the weight class. 178 - How many times has Downs defeated Riley? Has Riley ever beaten Downs? I could see Riley winning it if someone else defeats Downs and then Downs loses again in the losers bracket. Downs just seems to have Riley's number. 201 - Wilder - too big and strong? Maybe. He is raw. I see a lot of mistakes, but he does hit hard with his straight right. He is wild and his defense is a little suspect. He needs to be in much better shape as he only appeared to be strong for about 2.5 rounds. As far as Willett goes, he lost in the NY GG b/c of his shoulder. He just lost in the Pan Am Games again having problems with his shoulder. Those two bouts were about 5 months apart and the shoulder is still injured. 201+ - It could happen. Nate is pretty good and would be even better if he trimmed down a little. He would be even faster and able to move even more if he weighed 240 or so instead of 265. If Nate comes in under 250, he has a very good chance of winning. If he comes in at 265 or so, he has just an OK chance of winning.

I wish these bouts were televised. If someone could videotape them and then stick them on YouTube or similar site, it would be great.

Yes, you do. He was highly impressive. He won by RSC in his first fight and kind of manhandled two other opponents. He only had trouble once and pulled it out in the 3rd round.

well Good for Duran Caferro.

If you going to be on track the last few years or so right now is the right time to do it. We will find out in a few weeks.

As long as Caferro didn't get any injuries, the competition probably will help him be ready for the Trials Box-offs.

He didn't. Nothing beyond the natural fatigue of fighting 4 nights in a row. Although, as a side comment, those Grant Amateur gloves are not very good. The velcro on it will scratch you up bad. And they wear out fast.
