I will answer that and its definately B)jamesmcdonnell wrote:Sniping aside BC....
Would you say that a match against Thaxton for Khan say in the next 6 months, is....
A) A risky, but potentially fruitful bit of matchmaking, which Khan could come through and prove a big point.
B) An insane bit of matchmaking only a fool would make right now, which would result in a bad beating?

I was just reading Steve Kim's latest piece on Maxboxing, and he says there's a chance that Katsidis could be on the Hatton-Mayweather undercard. Now, it's a Golden Boy promotion, so maybe meaty Mick Hennessey can use his supposed Golden Boy connections and get Thaxton over there? Just a thought. Of course, Thaxton isn't ranked by the WBO, but I'm sure they can find room for him if someone asks nicely.

Katsidis has far better skills than Jon Thaxton but both are very strong heavy punchers who can both take a punch as well, so anything can happen - Khan couldnt stay with Thaxton who would spark him first chance he got but Meager maybe, so thats a fight that should be considered I think - Graham Earl is another risky one and I wouldnt give Khan more than a 40% chance of beating Earl.

Very well, thanks for asking. Why would Khan need Thaxton right now? He's too young to win the British and, yes, Thaxton would be a hard fight for no real gain.~ MIKEE ~ wrote:fair comment. how are you BC, havent seen you to try to annoy you for a little while?boxingchat wrote:Thaxton had the offer of the Katsidis fight (before Earl) the Khan Fight before Limond and agreed terms for both. Then he dissappered to Hennessey and was never seen again. Did he forget to tell you that bit Wellington?
Instead of Wellington spouting this crap why doesn't he help promote Witter, a WBC Champion who will probably end up pawning the 'best belt' to get a living. If Golden Palace want to put the money up then what are they expecting in return? Advertising, Sponsorship? Obviously, they will want something so in effect Thaxton will not be fighting for nothing will he?
Why doesn't Hennessey make an offer to FW for Khan's services that is too good to turn down instead of asking FW to put the fight and his best fighters on all the time?
Thaxton had the chance, a contract and an offer but soon scurried down to Hennessy and signed a deal. So what, is he saying that those mega shows, and purses he's on are not good enough now?
Graham Earl, Willie Limond and certainly Khan and others are earning more in a night than Thaxton earns all year so maybe he's regretting taking advice from others.
Finally, Wellington, what happened to Hennesssy's public quote "I will never let any of my Boxers fight on a Warren show again?"
Also, out of interest...Which Hennessey fighters will appear on your US partners Hatton V Mayweather Promotion? Will MH have the UK TV rights be a co-promoter or stage the UK press events? Has ODLH forgotten his little pal?
Still you reap what you sow, ooo ahh oo ahh!

Answers on a postcard to ......?Big Pussy wrote:I don't want to get involved in this BC vs. BO love in.
But I would like to know when the last time a 'top level' Sports Network fighter appeared on a show promoted by a rival UK promoter?
Not a pop just a question!
How about Danny Williams V Scott Gammer, Ricky Burns V Carl Johanssen, John Simpson V Ryan Barrett, Nigel Wright V Lenny Daws,
Calzaghe V Veit, Nelson V Cantatore, Maccarinelli, Harry Simon V Kranc. Skelton in Germany......

5 days yes, but maybe, unlike yourself, I have a life and don't spend all day looking at this site!Box Office wrote:Boxingchat wow! it only took your bald head 5 days to come up back with something. Did you and F.W. get the entire SN staff together to come up with that?
I guess it's good thing your a Benny Hill look-alike , Because your a complete Joke!
And I am not bald and nor was Benny Hill, so up yours
lol, where is the standard for top level then? Goalposts? where did they go? Im no SN fan (ask BC lol) but hes given you an answer, now you want to move the goalpostsBig Pussy wrote:And once more for the blind...
top level fighters on a show promoted by a UK rival
And for the record I don't include Williams, Burns and Wright as top level
and for the record, its more IMO risky taking your fighter onto another promoters shows IN ANOTHER COUNTRY....
I never changed the goalposts.
My original question remains unchanged.
BC asked why Hennessyy doesn't make Khan an offer.
I would like to know how realistic it is for another UK promoter to host a fight featuring a top level SN boxer.
Would he let:-
Maloney promote Enzo v Haye
Hennessy promote Khan v Thaxton
Hobson promote Woods v Calzaghe
I don't think they are likely scenarios.

I am positive moves are afoot so Hennessy does not score points on this latest Hatton/Mayweather show. If he does I will be very surprised. Dennis Hobson is still the UK promoter for Ricky Hatton and do not be surprised if it is Fight Academy fighters are on the show.
With all that said, I have to admit the same thoughts have crossed my mind and British Boxing seems to be about promoters doing each others bollocks in rather than working together.
I have to agree having the likes of Khan, Murray and Nick Smedley who could all be potential rivals on the one show would be rather good.

This is just a very opportunistic press release for Hennessy to put out, to my mind. The fight with Limmond showed that Kahn is clearly not ready for a fight with Thaxton. So it's win/win for Hennessy if Kahn was to take the fight at this stage there's a very high chance he'd lose because he's just too green for someone like Thaxton, if he doesn't take up the offer Henessy can talk about how he's running scared.
I like Thaxton and everything but he wasn't fighting at that sort of level after 2 years as a pro either. Slightly cheap thrick by Hennessy IMO.

Maybe mate, but taking up the offer would show they had no brains.Box Office wrote:Well it is a damm good offer!
Kahn and his promoter have no balls!
I know SN have put themselves into a bit of a corner with some of the OTT promotional claims reguarding Kahn, but any way you look at it Kahn just aint ready for Thaxton at this point in his career and nobody should expect him to be.

They simply don't match the money they are getting on SN Shows.
