Mundine's Career Might be Over

Post by walford »

Just saw on Fox Sports News that Anthony Mundines career might be over after a serious eye infection. Mundine suffered the infection after routine eye surgery. He reportedly removed a protective contact lens at a restaurant to clean it which has led to the infection.

Would be a sad way to end a career that still has so many questions yet to be answered.

The story is that he took the contact lens out of his eye and put it in his mouth to clean it "because somebody sugested it."

Haven't Tony and Lynn ever told their son about not taking advice from imbeciles?

LOL, yeah this is also on the Current scene. I still can't believe he could be so stupid to clean a contact with his mouth... :-?

Shit, I really hope this isn't going to spell the end of Mundine. I am a big Green fan, but still really want to see Mundine do well because he is an Australian with a whole load of talent. I've been saying ever since he beat Green that Mundine would beat Wright and Taylor if he went down to middleweight, and could possibly beat Calzaghe, or Kessler in a rematch (although that's the one I would give him least chance of winning).

Maybe he was eating something hot and got chilli in his eye from putting the contact in his mouth
Even if it does not end his career, this is a pretty stupid way to put yourself out of action!

Definitely stupid.

I highly doubt it will end his career, I'm sure he caught it early enough and can afford the required treatment...

Obviously not as he appears to be surrounded by them in his entourage. On a serious note Mundine - love him or hate him - is a talent and i hope it doesn't end his career as he is an improving fighter who still has a major part to play in the Super Middleweight picture. Would be a shame if something so silly ended his blossoming career.

He owns a nice coffee shop in Hurstville. He may find himself spending more time there in future.

Most recent word on Anthony is that he is out of hospital, has some blurring of his vision but is itching to start training again. Medical team is still unsure if he should fight again, but Mundine says he will be back in action soon.

Probably a couple of months off yet.
