I think I'd actually prefer this match, less chance of Vincent taking a beating. Then Magee v Sinclair afterwards would be a cracker.
This is also a good move in the event of the Hatton gravy train being derailed in the next 12 months.
Think about it...
Magee gets the WBU title and makes a defence or two against fairly easy opposition, pulling in the crowds in Belfast. Also the potential of a big clash with Sinclar for the title.
And if Hatton were to lose it all gets blamed on weight making and up he goes to rematch Magee (or Sinclair) for the WBU Welterweight title and Ricky is back to square one, WBU chump again for another few years of title 'defences' at the MEN while he rebuilds.

Should Magee win he'll be in a good position in the higher weight. Lets face it, the quality up at Welterweight isn't that of the Light Welters on the world wide scale. It is quite possible to see Hare win a proper version of the world title - that's not going to happen for Magee at Light Welter and I don't think Hare is much better than Magee (if at all).
I believe Magee is unfortunate, I think he has the talent to be in the world's top ten in alot of devision. However, he's just not quite good enough for possibly the strongest devision in world boxing. However, excluding Mayorga, Forrest, Spinks and Margarito - the Welters aren't great. Magee will have a chance.
Should Magee lose he'll can always blame the weight and move back down where again he'll find him positioned #3 in Britain, and maybe FW will risk Witter then.
Vincent is in a similar position as he was against Sinclair. David Barnes is guarenteed win or lose. Also, many feel this is more winnable for Vincent - how well prepared is Magee.
