He never ceases to amaze me that blokeAs far as I'm concerned the absolute key to this fight is Mayweather's fighting heart. If he is prepared to actually fight and go to a very painful place he never has been before against a rough tough bruiser like Hatton, then his superior talent should see him through. Anything less than total and utter commitment to do whatever is necessary will result in a loss for Mayweather.
I just have a feeling that this fight will surprise most people and that Mayweather will bail out when the going gets too tough.
Eubank tips Hatton ??
Eubank tips Hatton ??
This quote is going round but I'm not 100% sure if it is from Eubank :

Sounds 100 per cent Eubank. And he might just be right. Ricky is 7/4 with Stan James, and worth a flutter.Crew2 wrote:This quote is going round but I'm not 100% sure if it is from Eubank :

Eubank may have a point, but I think Hatton has more obstacles to overcome than Mayweather. Mayweather has fought guy's with a similar style to Hatton, but Hatton has never fought anyone remotely like Mayweather.
Hatton is gonna have a horrid time trying to pin Mayweather down and it's gonna be just as tough for him to land anything clean, because he doesn't have the most pinpoint accuracy.
It's a fight Hatton can win, but I don't think he will.

Eubank doesn't watch much boxing, I went on his site a few years ago and he wasn't too up on things. He seemed like he had only just vaguely heard of the Klits when they were at their peak. I doubt hes seen much of Mayweather or Hatton. We know Mayweathers been in the trenches against Castillo with broke ribs, damaged shoulder, broken hands (against numerous opponents).
It does sound like Eubank.
And he has followed Mayweather because he was in the Sky studio in one of his early fights saying "He reminds me of me"! Hatton fought on Eubank's undercards at the end of his career and Eubank did a piece saying he heard a Hatton bodyshot from the dressing room area and it would have 'dropped a rugby prop forward or NFL quarterback', and how a decade later saw that same shot on the ITN News (against Castillo) :)

Hi there Dr Moore - Ricky is going to make history and with so much support from fans and mates he will be so fired up for the event Mayweather will wonder just what he has to do to stop him- Ricky doesnt need a gameplan, just do what he always does, relentless pressure and cruel heavy punches into the ribs - We all know how good Mayweather is so Ricky will have to be on the same form as he was when he beat Kostya and if he is we will have a champion of champions and Idont think that is an exaggeration - My worry with Ricky is getting cut.Mooresy wrote:I think Eubank is ABSOLUTLELY spot on, Rick will take him to a place he's never been anywhere near, and I don't think he's gonna like it. Just booked my flights and MGM, COME ON HITMAN!!!

Ricky will get to work straight away, he always does and will be putting the pressure on from round one - Roughing Mayweather up and looking for the stoppage will be Rickys only gameplan because thats the way he does things, trying to outbox Mayweather jabbing and countering is not going to work - Ricky likes a war not a chess match and cutting the ring off and trying to nail Mayweather with his usual barrage of punches will almost certainly happen - He is the master of body punches and if he can get through Mayweathers guard he could end things in a similar way to his last stoppage over Castillo - Most boxers do need a gameplan but Ricky seems to fight virtually the same every time and thats really what I meant, just do what he always does, and lets hope he succeeds yet again.chris s wrote:Doesn't need a gameplan?

Why would you want to see anyone leave a boxing ring on a stretcher? - OK its plain you dont like Ricky Hatton and thats your right but wanting to see him or any boxer for that matter seriously hurt is sick - Get some treatment for your obviously disturbed mind.search wrote:cant wait to seee hatton take a hiding. hope he leaves the ring on a stretcher.

So come on then search, please elaborate as to why you would like to see that outcome?

In all fairness WW Hatton will need a gameplan to implement the type of fight that he needs to be in. Hatton's strengths are obvious and Mayweather's are too. There has to be a strategy for Hatton getting close enough for long enough in a round and throughout the fight as a whole to counter the exceptional speed and skills of PBF.WildWaylon wrote:Ricky will get to work straight away, he always does and will be putting the pressure on from round one - Roughing Mayweather up and looking for the stoppage will be Rickys only gameplan because thats the way he does things, trying to outbox Mayweather jabbing and countering is not going to work - Ricky likes a war not a chess match and cutting the ring off and trying to nail Mayweather with his usual barrage of punches will almost certainly happen - He is the master of body punches and if he can get through Mayweathers guard he could end things in a similar way to his last stoppage over Castillo - Most boxers do need a gameplan but Ricky seems to fight virtually the same every time and thats really what I meant, just do what he always does, and lets hope he succeeds yet again.chris s wrote:Doesn't need a gameplan?

ALso, I bet with a statement like that, he has seen neither Mayweather or Hatton fight before.chesh wrote:You are obviously not a boxing fan. No fan would wish that under any circumstances.search wrote:cant wait to seee hatton take a hiding. hope he leaves the ring on a stretcher.
The only way Hatton leaves on a stretcher against Mayweather is through exhaustion...caused by chasing the pansy around the ring

As expected a BS OTT reason if ever there was one.search wrote:i dislike hatton for a number of reasons. one of them is the fact that he fought overmatched opponents for years and make a joke out of himself before finally stepping up to the plate and fighting tszyu t the right time. he fought rios (a former 130 pounder, who he was much bigger and stronger than, oliviera (an old man who retired previously because he couldn't make the weight), pederson, stephen smith (do i need to go on?). meanwhile fighters like witter, mitchell, judah, corley etc wanted to fight him. but no, he opted to bully and beat up the likes of pederson a former 30 pounder who could have gotten seriously hurt. and oliveria could also have got seriously hurt.SticknMove wrote:Yeah only an utter tosser would look for that outome. lets see how he feels when he gets overmatched against pbf who will makea show of him and i hope he gets what he deserves and takes a severe hiding and needs an oxygen mask just like the cocky pri*k alex arther did when gomez punched the arrogance out of his head, the cocky c*nt.
If you feel that Hatton fought well overmatched opponents up until Tzsyu, then maybe you should point your misplaced anger towards the management that made those fights and not the fighter himself.
It has been a feature of British boxing that when a prospect joins the ranks of the top manager/promoter they are overprotected. This happened in the days of Lawless, Duff, Astaire and co. and there was no exception with Hatton, in this regard. It is when they step up the level of competition that a fighter’s career will be judged in their proper boxing perspective.
You dislike a fighter for being cocky and arrogant on one hand, but will take delight when an opponent (that has a bigger claim to being cocky and arrogant) beats the object of your dislike so bad that he’s taken out on a stretcher. That’s some fvcked up thinking on your part pal.
But there again, as others have said maybe you are not a true fan of boxing or are just a windup merchant.

I dont get your logic here, Hatton's stamina is a question mark past the 8th round lately wheras Floyd is one of the top conditioned fighters in the world. If this was a 15 round fight Hatton would be peppered in the last 3 rounds.Grilling Machine wrote:If it was 15 rounds I'd be brave enough to bet on Hatton. As it is, I think the judges will favour Mayweather. Best of luck to Ricky though, it's definitely a fight he has to win well to get the nod.
