If someone in the 141 lb weight class drops out or gets injured then he will be the first to get into the empty spot... he should of made it.
No, he will not and he did not. It doesn't work that way. If our 141 Olympic team member (1) doesn't qualify in any of the Olympic qualifying tournaments. i.e. Worlds, and 2 Americas or (2) gets hurt after making the team, we just won't have a 141 representing the U.S.If someone in the 141 lb weight class drops out or gets injured then he will be the first to get into the empty spot... he should of made it.
Mel - he means if one of the 8 qualifiers to the Olympic Trials can't make it, he thinks Dargan will get the spot. One of the guys who lost in the round of 16 should get it and since Dargan lost a close bout to the eventual winner in the round of 16 he probably would get the spot. Now if USAB can just convince one of the 8 to drop out to give Dargan the chance to enter the trials. Stranger things have happened.
My pick for someone dropping out at 141: Samuel Martinez, the Armed Service Champ (lost big to Solomon) could find that he can't get time-off to go to the Trials or that he is being deployed.

You never know. Someone could get injured in training and pull out. I'm sure Dargan would be ready to jump in and replace someone if a spot opens up.
Now, if it happens that still doesn't mean he will win the Trials. I would have to say that after his performances in the Pan Am Games, he would be the favorite. However, I think he was the favorite for winning the US Championships too and look at what happened.
