Train is probably your best bet, takes two hours tops from manchester i think, and the dome from the station (bus or train station) is a short bus ride away, if you were to get a taxi it would be about £4 to the venue.

Train is your best option, then taxi from the station. Not sure what the time of last train from Donny to Manchester is though.

Venue is 2 mile walk from train station, less from bus.

Taxi would probably be £3, at a guess.

Man to Sheff train, then a train to Doncaster is the best bet. In Sheffield there's loads of trains to Donny. There's no shortage of council taxis outside D train station if you don't want to walk.

Or, when you're there, the bus station is right next to the train station, and you can get, say, a 57 bus which will drop you off near the Dome in a matter of minutes.

The sound of gunshots, including one guy blowing up his own face, across the road from me turned Saturday into a very interesting day for us 'Hill Street Blues' fans. It gives me a spring in my step.

The guy with the neck wound tried to shoot but his gun went off in his face and he legged it into some woman's house. It was on the other side of Brunswick street to mine. The worrying thing is that it was not seen as massive news. I went to the shop and asked what was going on and some young woman just shrugged and said, "There was a gun fight and someone blew-up his own face".

So I buggered of to get away from it all by going Liverpool to watch the fights at the Olympia. That went well. I had my programme (inside was the weights and results) nicked, plus my water was swiped.

There was an episode of 'Panorama' on last night about London gang culture and it featured these guys who could not make their mind up if they were in gangs or doing their homework and it basically amounted to them standing on a corner, someone would pass and they would start to communicate in this barely understandable patter.

They went on and on about carrying shanks, guns and picking up bottles and fighting with them. In one funny scene one kid said, "these are my weapons" and held up his fists. His guard was wide-open, his fist was not fully clenched and he would not be striking with the knuckle part of his fists. Amateur.

I said to my girlfriend that these geeks are space-cadets but she pointed out that they are space-cadets with weapons who attack in numbers.

Depressingly these little geeks are probably similar to the guys who shot James.

I found that show very depressing. You could see that they weren't bad kids really, but they were just caught up in living in a shite neighbourhood where gangs were rife.

I thought they made an excellent point about how you were either in the gang, or you were fair game. Given a choice between being in a gang, or being a target for them, what kind of choice is that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's time to blow up all these ugly concrete high-density housing estates that we're built in waves from the 1950's to the 1980's and start again.

It's no surprise that Newham has a big problem, it's an absolute shithole which takes in some of the biggest dumps in London.

The rise of gang culture in this country, it is no coincidence surely, seems to occur in the areas of our nation, than most resemble the inner city 'projects' of the USA.

It may sounds harsh but I recall gangs knocking about when I was young and sure you get battered every so often but what happened to having a positive mental attitude and being mentally strong and actually working on making things better for yourself?

One of the telling moments was when thay guy said he was going to do his homework, his brother came in with a bird he wanted to entertain and told the kid to get out of the bedroom and the kid's attitude was, "Right, thatz it, I'm taking it to the streetz."

Why not use another room? Because the quit is in him already, it is ingrained by his culture and the years of skirting around the issue of black-on-black violence by scared MP's and ultra-touchy community leaders who could not accept the idea of black-on-black violence and hid behind a PC wall of silence.

The whole idea that these guys talk about respect is crazy when they do not earn respect.

Try and remember, they were kids Terry, they were 15. At 15 I was a lazy bastard who did anything to avoid work. The difference was it wasn't dangerous for me to be roaming about my area, and my mates weren't all carrying knives and in gangs.

Yeah, that's true mate, it's not really a white or black thing, it's a Jamaican thing. The influence of the Jamaican Yardie culture, has definetly left it's mark on our streets, as has the influx of Yardie loons who come over to England to make a fast buck and just don't give a shit.

I read an interesting paper on this recently, tracking how the arrival of the yardies changed the face of street crime and the underworld generally, although I think the idea of the 'gentleman gangsters' like the Krays is rather overplayed, let's not forget that they were murdering lunatics. It's just that guns were rarely used because of the heat it would bring down on them. However, they were still happy to have people bludgeoned or stabbed to death on their behalf.
