I think they will make that decision at the annual meeting which is November 7-10, 2007 in Mesquite, Texas. So you will know in 2 months if not before. My guess is it will be in February or March 2008 which means the LBC tourney will probably be in early to mid January 2008 and the Regional tourney will be a few weeks after the LBC tourney.
They will be deciding the location issue as well during the annual meeting. It usually is held in Colorado Springs because it costs USAB less money to have it near their headquarters.
yeah but i like it better then when they have it in june i want to hurry up and get them rankings, and dennis if i wanted to fight in the michigan golden gloves would they let me if i don't win the detroit golden gloves?

It was only in June this year. For many years prior to '07 it was in February or March. As far as your Q about the GG, the answer is NO! You can only enter one GG franchise tournament. You have to enter the tournament for where you reside. The boxers at NMU had the option of entering the WI GG (the UP goes into that franchise's GG) or their home area's GG. However, once you enter a GG and lose (or win), you can't then enter another GG tourney. If your gym is in the Detroit GG geographical area (I do not know what the boundaries are for it), then that is the tournament you have to enter. There are some distint rules (and I don't know them) for certain areas and gyms. Joe's Boxing Club is in Monroe, MI, but they actually enter the Toledo GG. I think all of their boxers go into the Toledo GG even though they could have a few guys who actually live outside of the Toledo GG area (I think it goes by the address of the gym in which you are registered - but I'm not 100% sure). I think the same thing is true for Detroit, but again I'm not 100% sure so you should ask your coach. He can contact William Barr, the President of the Golden Gloves of Metro Detroit, or Dave Packer, the President of the Michigan Golden Gloves Association, for more info.
The Nationals will be held 7-15 March 2008 in Colorado Springs, Co. It has not been confirmed as of yet but the USOC has that time frame on their calendar for boxing. We are also inviting everyone to come out to celebrate a week of amateur boxing/Reunion/National Championship/2008 Olympic Boxing Team send-Off. Spread the word and prepare to be part of a huge event.

Kinda sucks for me; I was hoping I would have the chance to get more experience before entering state and regionals; as it is now I'll probably have to fight Nick Swan at state with 8 or 9 fights if I'm lucky.
I know. It just happens the GG are at a later date and it's possible someone like Nick won't enter that; or if he did, could possibly enter again at a different weight class. The only reason he was a light heavy this year is because he was like 166 or 167 at weigh in for state; I think because he wanted to get a fight...normally he's a 165 pounder. At least he doesn't have an insane amount of fights.

Yeah - it's all in the mind set. If the more inexperienced guy doesn't show too much respect with the guy with 100+ bouts, his chances are much better.
Well thanks for the support, guys. It's still a few months away and I think I can win; and he's got like 30 fights or so, so it's not to ridiculous. Just can't be awed by the fact that he went to the Olympic Trials and what not.
Dennis wrote:Kolya - get some good sparring against other top open class guys so that you know that you are ready.
Well, I do have the chance to spar with the best in the state sometimes; other than that just if I go back east to visit. Although it's quite possible I may end up sparring him; we'll see, we've talked about it before.
Dennis wrote:Go spar with Fernando Guerrero and Dominic Wade as they are both in the east coast. If you can do OK with them, then Nick shouldn't be a problem.
That's all depending on IF I went back to visit MD, and IF I did anything with their gyms. I think Wade's gym merged with Old School; who I was ok with, I have no idea what gym Guerrero is out of, I can't even remember how to get to Fruitland.
