More Sosnowski apathy

Post by oliverfennell »

Kirkcaldy is to have a 'world' title bout added to the undercard on the 14th September in the Ice Rink. Polish heavyweight and holder of the WBF belt at that weight Albert Sosnowski will defend his title against Argentinean Manuel Pucheta.

Manuel WHO??

FFS Sosnowski and Greenberg should be made to fight each other, loser leaves town.

I vote for WINNER leaves town - loser leaves the country.

Sosnowski and his people clearly have no ambitions to fight for genuine honours. A glossy record means nothing to me without the ability and ambition to take on demanding competition.

A genuine waste of time.

Thats him!

Last time an Argentinian heavyweight came to the UK from a night shift from the fruit and veg market. Frank Bruno clobbered him in a round.

Decent record but has been protected, it would be nice if Pucheta clobbered Sonowski but unfortuneatley that won't happen. :(

Though you never know! :TU:

Let's hope Kevin Anderson takes Sonowski under his wing and shows him what being a real boxer is all about. 8)

Eamonn Magee, Ali Nuumbembe, Anthony Guillet, Young Mutley, Craig Dickson and Joshua Okine in back to back contests. :box:

Anderson puts the likes of Sonowski to shame

sossy still has Norris/ machimana and herelius on his record...also stopped the tricky kalikauskas in 2 (kali gave numerous brits hell including flooring Greenberg and stopping Hide)

pucheta has been very active as a new pro

i say go go boys !!

When an ancient ex-cruiserweight OVER SIX ROUNDS is the best result on a 40-1 record, you know there's something to hide.

Machimana is a dangerman, but VERY raw and beating him is no indication of world class. Herelius an OK scalp but unproven and, again, not the sort of person somebody should be taking on around the 40-fight mark. Kulikausas is a journeyman and the Hide stoppage was utterly bogus. He didn't land a glove all night; it was a headclash that did it.

I don't care about the belt; I can ignore these things.

My point is Sosnowski has a 40-1 record and anybody with those stats and a modicum of ambition should have stepped up a long time ago.

The problem is that harm IS done by these worthless baubles - they confuse the generl public and devalue the worth of genuine titles.

When someone as limited and lacking in ambition as Sosnowski can be announced as a 'heavyweight champion of the world' the sport has reached yet another low ebb.

It confuses general sports fans and in my mind is one of the most detrimental facets of the modern game.

all the world titles are phoney

until the winner of peter/mascaef fights vlad klit there will continue to be a vacant world champion.......

whilst there is a definate gap in class between say Toney and Sosnowski..the bottom line is both their attempts to win 'world' titles are baseless...... in other words there is nothing to seperate the likes of Toney and ibragimov from sosnowski et al

Apart from ability, quality of opposition, world wide levels of recognition, standing within the sport..

Whilst the main 3 titles may be fractured and a unification tournament would be most welcome, you cant get away from the fact that fighters who arent even on the radar of world class competition (Sosnowski) shouldnt be able to parade around the ring claiming to be 'heavyweight champion'.

IF you dont win wimbledon in tennis, you cant claim to be wimbledon chamion.. Only Tyson Gay can claim to be current 100m sprint champ etc etc

Bullshit titles are the scurge of the sport.

i agree in part... but lets maybe not use Toney as an example of quality matchmaking (batchelder !) or respect within the sport (drug cheat).....

whilst it is laughable that sosnowski will claim a world honour...i still assert that its crazy for Macsacaef/ chagaev and the rest to do the same .....

the logic follows that as WBF champion Sosnowski can pretty much fight whoever he likes ... so does Mascaef (okhello) so does Klit (mccline).....

there is no such thing as a bona fide uncorrupt top 20 ranking

the wbf ranking isnt any better or worse than the others... i think i saw Nicolai Firtha rated in the WBC top 20 !!!!!!! are u suggesting that a mascaef / firtha fight is ok but a sosnowski/ pucheta isnt ?

That's true, but the ratings you see on their site are purely cosmetic. When did anyone in their published top 10 actually fight for their title? It's pretty much open to anybody who pays the sanctioning fee. They gave Julius Francis a shot, ffs!

Just out of interest who holds the single win over Sosnowski thus far? Maybe Audley can fight him to his world title back
