Harrison lost Medina, what's the big shame in that, Medina will probably make the hall of fame. He's been a professional for near on 20 years, and it one of the toughest, slickest and gamest fighters around.
Do you think Harrison would have struggled with Pastor Maurin? Even a faded McCulloch fighting two weights above his best is a better fighter than Maurin.
I like Brodie, and I would love to see him on a big American PPV, where they would love his style, but he gets hit too much, and hurt too often and ends every fight looking like the loser.
Harrison may or may not go on to bigger and better things, but no way on gods earth has Brodie achieved anything Harrison hasn't except getting his head reshaped every fight.

Nothing wrong with losing to Medina you're quite right, but it's the manner in which he lost. He was out everythinged and exposed as a limited one dimensional wbo level fighter.
And yes I do think he would have struggled with Maurin who is very tough and very awkward.
Brodie has achieved more, he's held british, commonwealth and european titles. He came up the proper way and is going for a recognised title. Harrison had the commonwealth title and has been manoevered to the world binman organisation belt (on a par with the European at best) in typical allegedly fashion. And aside from anything else, he's boring.

You said in an earlier post that the WBO title was "international at best" Now you are saying its "on a par with european at best". You make up the rules as you go alongmrbassie wrote:Nothing wrong with losing to Medina you're quite right, but it's the manner in which he lost. You are one truly pig-headed individual!
I have a question for you. Do you actually READ anybodys posts & listen to what they have to say?

Re: "spot the blackman"
So are you saying is that its alright to make sweeping generalizations about scottish people?Timmbo wrote:Dont worry Mr Bassie,Im not white and I dont see you as racist at all.
Anyway, its always"spot the blackman" in Scot Harrison/Alex Arthur fight!
Not a Harrison fan evidently, Mr Bassie. A couple of things I take issue with. Firstly, if Brodie came up "the proper way" did Harrison come up the improper way? He was fighting and soundly beating former world class operators like Tracy Harris Patterson and Steve Robinson whilst his pro fight record was barely in double figures. Perhaps you would prefer it if boxers just f**k around the domestic ranks for years instead of having the ambition and courage to truly test themselves.mrbassie wrote:Nothing wrong with losing to Medina you're quite right, but it's the manner in which he lost. Secondly, the WBO title is on a par with European level at best, is it? That does a great disservice to men like Jorge Paez, Colin McMillan, Steve Robinson, Naseem Hamed and, indeed, 5 time world champion Medina who held it at one time or another. These fighters were world class, as is Harrison.
As for being manoeuvred into a world title shot, well, beating good domestic fighters like Richie Wenton, Patrick Mullings and Gary Thornhill clearly puts a fighter in the international bracket in my book. Beating Steve Robinson, Tracy Harris Patterson and Tom Johnson so early in his career, past their best or not, puts Harrison at world level.
If you don't like him, fine, but try to be at least a bit objective in your judgement of him.
PS. Harrison would beat Brodie on any day of the week...and I think you know that. 8)

I reckon Harrison beats Brodie - he'd be right there in front of him and Scott has the better chin IMO.
Great fight for the fans though...should happen if Harrison gets by Medina in 5 days time.
Might be another tough night for Scott with the Mexican though. The best laid plans etc..
I liked the way he sounded on Ringside the other night though - talking about throwing 100's of punches, which is what he has to do - but I guess he would say that wouldn't he.
Still I go for the Scot to win on points - or even a late stopage.

Yes I read, but I form my WON opinions and don't hop on bandwagons.
Wel alright then fine, if you think I said anything remotley racist then you clearly have a very very poor understanding of the meaning of the word and I'm done trying to point out how absurd your little racism claim is. People overrate their own fighters that's a fact, doesn't make any difference where they're from. That isn't racist, it's not even derogotory in any way so I don't know what the fornicate you've been smoking mate but I think it's a good idea if you don't ever offer some to anybody else.Hollow Man wrote:mrbassie wrote:Have you been winding me up the whole time? (bastard!) or am I talking to Claire fuckin Raynor?
No I have not been winding you up. I was laughing in dismay at just how racist you are, Savvy?

Well it's like this, I see Harrisoin as another allegedly protected fighter, if you want a glimpse into his future then imo you should look at Joe Calzaghe if you follow my drift. Furthermore beating washed up fighters on losing streaks does not make you world class, the wbo belt does not make you world class either. I don't dislike the guy but when he beats someone who is world class (at the time that he beats them) then I'll be impressed. If he beats Medina, and I mean actually beats him regardless of judges scorecards I'll take it all back because then I'll have seen something.tolstoy wrote:Not a Harrison fan evidently, Mr Bassie. Ok you guys all have your opinions and I have mine, you can't convince me and I can't convince any of you so let's just drop it. It's already getting a little ugly with one moron slinging unfounded and ridiculous accusations at me in lieu of any argument.

There is no way Harrison would stop Brodie.
Harrison is good, but he's no genius.
He's big, strong, and aggresive, but he cant fight on the back foot and he gets bewildered when hit with combinations of counters. He cant change strategy mid way throough a fight.
Harrison might outwork Brodie, but if they fought I would make Brodie favourite.
I hope Harrison beats Medina, as this will make for some very good match ups. My hunch is that Medina will win, though.

So what do you class as 'World class' then bassie? I take it you didnt see Chacon brutally KO then WBO champ & olympic gold medallist Istvan Kovacs?mrbassie wrote:Well it's like this, I see Harrisoin as another allegedly protected fighter, if you want a glimpse into his future then imo you should look at Joe Calzaghe if you follow my drift. Guess who then went on to beat top 10 rated fighter(which I consider world class) Juan Pablo Chacon? Thats right, Scott Harrison!
Also, I dont remember anyone saying Wayne McCullough (whom I am guessing you are referring to here as you didnt name names) was 'washed up' before Harrison beat him.
That was a real 50/50 fight in the publics eyes beforehand, to say Wayne was 'washed up' afterwards is doing Scott & Wayne a great disservice.

If you can tell me that you respect the scottish nation & its people the same as every other nation I will quite happily tell the board that I was in the wrong & shouldnt have called you a racistmrbassie wrote:first off, I was talking about steve Robinson, not Wayne McCullough.
Secondly, I've heard quite enough from you to know that I'm not interested in reading or responding to anything you say again.
That's what happens when you slander people.
You cant say thats not fair now, can you?
Well it's nearly fight time so it's time to make my final prediction. Yes I am a BIG Scott Harrison fan and I do believe that he can significantly improve on his performance in the first fight with Medina.
However as we all know styles make fights and I think that Medina has the style that will always give Scott nightmares, I find this a hard fight to call. Scott will need to greatly increase the amount and variety of punches he throws and try to cut down the ring a bit, if only a little, and not just slowly plod after Medina. If Scott acheives this which I think he will I see this being a simular fight to Ingle - Medina with Scott taking a tight and maybe debatable points victory.

The Scot should do it tomorrow night, but it'll likely be a tough night...again.
The first three rounds will likely show us the outcome of the fight - was it an off night for Scott, or is Medina all wrong for him?
Wonder how the Mexican is getting on in sunny Scotland
Must be a shock to his system coming from that Mexico weather.
If Harrison is as good as he looked on his way up, he should grind Medina down for a late stopage, getting it right second time round.
Should be a good one though, really looking forward to it.
