Audley Harrison says he will fight Danny Williams early next year and supposing he wins how do u think he shud spend the rest of the year how shud he go about this stage of his career

Where did you hear this info.... I'd be very happy if it was true.
Should Audley win then I would like to see him make the defences necessary to win the belt outright ..... Hopefully against decent UK opposition (i.e. Hide, Skelton and Long/Sprott) if there is still time he should then lobby for a crack at Samil Sam. If not Sam, then a Francios Botha, Clifford Etteine style opponent.
That would be a very productive year, there'll be definately votes for Harrison regarding the British Boxer of the Year if he wins these fights

After he loses to Williams (if the fight actually happens) Audley will probably spend the rest of 2004 on the K1 circuit.

Yep you're absolutely right Loftgroov, just like so many would've done had David Walker somehow beaten Roman Karmazin...
I don't dislike Audley at all, he's got a great personality and he's good for British boxing (sort of) but that doesn't mean I have to believe what comes out of his mouth. For me all the talk in the world can not disguise what he is - an average British heavyweight.

Audley has stated he wants to be fighting for the British title in the Summer of 2004, but by then Sprott could be British champion. I would like him to go on and win the Lonsdale belt outright, (so that I can start ramming some of this aforementioned humble pie down peoples throats). Kilburn, Harrison is several steps better than Walker, Walker is an unschooled club fighter who was matched too early and way above his head against Karmazin, who is one of the best men in his division.
Audley is a former Olympic champ with good tools and a good brain too, which is always an asset.
He hasn't long to do it, but I wouldn't be that surprised if he managed to get on the end of a belt, might be more likely WBO, but he might even manage a major sanctioning body's belt, the division is wide open and there's a lot of guys who will be in the mix for a title.
I picked Sprott to beat Williams in their first fight, and thought Williams should have been disqualified in that bout, but I don't think Sprott can take Williams shots to the body if he keeps them above the belt line, he might just outbox him, but if Danny gets aggresive and lays into him, Sprott is in big trouble again.
Sprott v Harrison would be a good fight though, got to favour Audley though, with huge advantages in reach and height, Sprott would have trouble outboxing him.

I fancied Sprott to win their second fight and I still do for the third fight, but not with any great conviction. With Sprott not having the greatest chin and Danny punching like a mule, Sprott is always only going to be one punch away from losing the fight, but I thought Sprott was clearly outboxing him in their most recent contest and if he can keep his concentration throughout the whole fight I can see him winning a fairly wide UD. I have not been impressed with Danny in any of his last 3 fights and whats the betting he won't "be able to get his shots off".
I hope Danny Williams does manage to stick around for a challenge from Harrison sometime in 2004. It's the fight most of us want to see, we've had a bit of needle and build up generated by some of the BBC link-ups over the last year or two so it would be a big one.
And I want £20 off Kilburn....
As for Sprott beating Williams, I don't see it now. I think Sprott missed his chance last time (well he was shafted) out and suffered such a heavy knockout that I feel Danny will beat him fairly easily next time, that kind of knockout can often finish a fighter for good.

As someone on this board pointed out (I don't recall who), Danny Williams hit Sprott with a full power body shot which was certainly low.
If this had actually hit Sprott's family jewels, he would have been on the floor, clutching his nuts.
Before he got floored at the end, his hands were by his side and he was looking at the Ref.
They were low blows, but they didn't finish Sprott. He did that himself when he looked away.
I wasn't trying to directly compare Walker and Harrison in terms of ability, I was just making the point that had Kid Dynamite toppled the European champion almost everyone would've had some serious pie-digestion to take care of, naturally. Of course I'd feel a bit embarrassed if Audley became champ, just as I would if Howard Eastman pulled off a miracle and beat Bernard Hopkins after all I've said about that one. But when people come out with all this potential humble pie stuff it doesn't really help to strengthen their argument that Audley is "on his way".
I think people like to assume that Harrison is going to improve enough to get to where he says he's going because of the gold medal hype and the plain fact that Audley talks himself up superbly. But why can't people look past that and see what's actually in the ring? And to be honest as fine an achievement as winning at Sydney was for Audley he was bloody lucky to progress further than his opening match - saved by some inept referee who decided to halt Alexei Lezin just because he took 1 solid shot after building up a clear lead.
That said, I don't think Audley is rubbish. He's got decent movement for a big man and reasonable handspeed. The reason I'm happy to have this bet with Goz (my first ever) is because IMO for Harrison to beat Williams he'd have to go 12 tough rounds against someone who punches back with force and who would probably rather die than lose to him. Harrison is just not up to it. If he proves me wrong (which he won't) then I'll gladly send Goz his £20 and admit I was wrong about that one BUT he'll never, ever be a genuine world champ!!
Honestly guys, I badly wanted Audley to be a special talent but he just isn't. I wouldn't even start to think beyond domestic dust-ups with Williams, Sprott and Hide if I were you.
