Bobick had a terrible accident working a factory after he stopped boxing.

He came close to losing both arms.

Hope he is doing okay now.

Duane Bobick looked fit and healthy in the photo taken for the interview in this weeks Boxing News. The interviewer commented that he looked healthy and his voice was clear.

However he is on disability benefits due to the horrific injurys to his arms (papermill accident in 1997 where he nearly lost both arms). In the picture he is in a fighting pose in I assume his home or office and his arms 'look' fine and I cannot see any scars.

But apart from that he is healthy and does some work as a personal fitness trainer. He is since about 2003 the deputy commisioner of the Minnesota Boxing Commision and he is also a Golden Gloves official.

Joe, that photo is not a current one.

It is from when Bobick was an amateur.

*sighs*

Of all the "great white hopes", Bobick was arguably my personal favorite. As an amateur he defeated the legendary Teofilio Stevenson, and was "pushed" as a 'star' when he cracked down the tough Chuck Wepner.

Myself the Norton fight was a move way too soon, but hey, that's boxing. One of my favorite stories of him took place in 1978, and he was on a plane and raved how Leon Spinks wasn't shit because he was afraid of taking on Ken Norton, and how he said 'Gimme a few weeks, and I'd fight that god damned Cassius Clay'

 was quite a character, Duane Bobick was,.

A very good puncher . . .his two big drawbacks were not a very sturdy chin and not very fast hands.

Sorry there is no link it's only in the paper version not their website.

Bobick also beat Larry Holmes as an amatuer by DQ. I have seen film of Bobick losing to Stevenson at the Olympics but has anyone here ever seen their first fight when Bobick won on points?

Graham Houston tipped Bobick to beat Norton.
