I read with interest earlier that Goz and Mr Kilburn admit they're on the Roman Greenberg bandwagon but not on the Audley one (well Kilburn isn't, I think Goz likes the big fella).
My question is, what has Greenberg done/got in your eyes to convince you to climb aboard the bandwagon? Like Harrison, Greenberg was a fine amateur but up till now, like Harrison, Greenberg has yet to record a win over anyone of substance. I've seen Greenberg fight live on 3 occasions and he's done OK, nothing brilliant, just ok. He's done what supposed heavyweight prospects do - took care of limited journeyman with minimum fuss. Between them, they've ploughed through 25 opponents yet we've learnt precious little about the credability of their future world ambitions.
Greenberg is attracting a lot of attention but I see no tangible evidence to support peoples assertions YET. Sure I've heard the Angelo Dundee quote but I take that with a pinch of salt. Throw away comments of praise are uttered every day. I wonder how many other kids Angelo has tipped for the top only to see them bomb? I worry about Greenberg being big enough to cope with the super-heavyweights, I wonder if he has the punch to discourage their advances, and I feel his relaxed style and static head will come back to haunt him if he's not careful. It's very interesting to watch Greenberg when he gets tagged. Rather than regroup, he goes hell for leather as if agitated at his opponent for having the audacity to hit him. He hangs his chin out to dry when he does this.
Harrison and Greenberg have ability, undoubtedly. But right now they are protected species. I don't see how you can rate/discount one and not the other based on what we already know and have witnessed to date. I don't believe either of them will make it.

To answer your question. The one major difference between the two is their age!.
Both a protected species if you ask me, however how old is Greenberg....22 - my god he's a damn baby in this devision. Harrison on the other hand is 10 years older, is a very experienced amateur and has made numerous predictions about his career that have so far gone wrong.
My main problem with Harrison is that is fast approaching the Athens games and he's bearly in the top ten domestically, having not beat a fighter in the domestic top ten. Most Olympians are pushing for a place in the worlds top ten by the following Olympics. Okay, so Calvin Brock hasn't done much aswell, but Brock never made any statements about becoming world champion. Even Lawrence Cley Bay, who everyone knew seriously lacked ambition still had the opportunity to make the fringe top ten only just after Sydney but he lost to Etteine.
Greenberg is at the embryonic stages of his career, and should be treated as such. I do agree, that these big things shouldn't be mentioned about him yet at such a tender age and I worry that the pressure will get to him. Angelo Dundee should be focusing more on his own prospect Attila Levin than Greenberg. If Greenberg was 26-27 I'd be shouting for him to get a move on. He has the time to learn his trade, Harrison hasn't anymore - he's should have learned a lot in the Amateur game mind.

Hey Lightsoot, when I say I'm on the bandwagon I guess I just mean I'm supporting them more than actually tipping them for greatness, after seeing the first great British Heavyweight in a century (in the shape of Lennox) I guess I'm addicted and want another, if not as good as Lennox then at least inspiring me to stay awake to 5am to watch them battle it out with a top overseas Heavyweight in Las Vegas. I'll miss it when Lennox is gone, which he is to all intents and purposes.
If you want me to actually get all analytical about Harrison and Greenberg and their prospective futures....
Of course both are unproven, only an idiot would say otherwise but there are also undeniable attributes that at least give them a 'fighting' chance of acheiving something.
Olympic Super-Heavyweight champions have been known to fare well from time to time in the pro ranks, enough said. With the exit of Lewis-Holy-Tyson from the world scene then the division isn't exactly bristling with all-time greats, it really may not take that much for a carefully guided big man with a little talent to make an impression.
As for Greenberg, the guy has impressed me when I've seen him and for a 21 year old does have a couple of reasonable wins in there. Roman really does have time and has shown some attributes that might take him a long way.
That's it really, I'd like to think a balanced view, the people who post things like 'Audrey is a fraud bum who will acheive nothing' get 0% respect from me as do those who write off Roman Greenberg at the age of 21.

I wasn't having a pop at you for being enthusiastic and you should know by now that even though I can't stand Lennox the person I wholeheartedly acknowledge his talent and achievements. I'm just a fan myself but I guess I'm a touch more cynical in general. I think what may have encouraged my scepticism is that I've spent a little time with people who are close to Greenberg - he has a great bunch of people working with him, very close knit and it's nice to see. They've been telling me how talented Greenberg is and just how high their hopes are for his future. It wasn't a hard sell, they speak with calm conviction.
I'd never heard of Greenberg. Hence when I went to one of his fights I guess I was looking to witness something which would blow me away. Basically I've yet to be blown away, I don't honestly see why Greenberg isn't just another run-of-the-mill heavyweight prospect even though I concede he has some nice skills. Greenberg, for my money, has been good. But special? I just can't see it. Hope I'm wrong because Roman and his team are nice people.

Why do I like Greenberg? Because he's constantly moving and throwing classy punches in a way that is very pleasing on the eye.
Why don't I rate Harrison? Because he fights just like Calvin Brock, Malik Scott and all those other lazy heavyweights that are supposedly on the way up. Although at least Brock has a reasonable dig.
Is Greenberg big enough? Maybe not but at least his style of boxing is going to give him the best chance of hanging in their with the 17 stoners.
Is Goz going to lose £20? You betcha.
