I would like to give guys like jaclem and enrique mad respect. They to me are human walking encyclopedias that we gotta be grateful and thankful that they participate in this forum.

I give them mad respect and love for being here. They have seen fights and fighters for more than 50 years and I believe them.

Any other old timer here in this forum that I do not know about?

..hey salsa...thank you !!!! all i can say is i try and though i am blessed with a very good memory, i'm far from a perfect historian and i've messed up more often than i'd like.. i learn a lot myself on both the classic forum as well as the current scene...and on the latter especially.

i think decagon has either been around a while or has read a lot of history. he's grumpy most of the time, but he's got a lot of worthwhile information. i'm sure there are others.....anyway now i feel i have something to live up to..and bless you, my boy for your kind words. :P

I think it's all relative. But, thanks for sharing your wisdom and experiences with this forum and its posters Jaclem and Enrique.

I have been around boxing since the age of 12 -I'm 58 now- and I have loved every minute of it. I go back to the days when each division only had one champ, amateurs fought without headgear and the end swell had not been yet invented.

In another 100 years I'll be as knowledgeable as Hank Kaplan...

Absolutely agree, all the guy's mentioned have probably forgotten more about boxing than I'll ever know. I'd add that I've also enjoyed hearing Expug's stories from inside the fight game in the 70s and 80s.

Of course respect them and learn from them,

and maybe those that don't see by the modern media made hype and (c)hampions can subtley be reminded by there gentle Elders that yes there was a better time in boxing and yes better fighters and Champions!

homicide hank...indeed...having followed boxing for more than 50 years does not necessarily make me wiser than some others here. i still learn from a lot of them....and maybe someday i'll even learn something from you. :P

I apologise for the "patterson statement", wasn't meant to be a stab at anyone, was just illustrating the point that, the majority of us posters have a helluva lot more deeper knowledge of the game than most of the general public, we're all "winners" in my mind no matter how many years of experience we have.

I read your posts with interest also.
Its funny , I used to remember all these old fights and fighters so much more a number of years ago.
Often times I forget what happened in a certain fight that I know Ive seen .
Thats why I admire the ability of some of the guys around here to RETAIN memories of some of these old fights.

I pretty much like all the posters who come on the forums. Most people can put up a decent argument.

Enrique, Jaclem, Buzz, Silk, Homocide, Alp, Fine, Walsh, Elmer, Expug, Seamus, Broncano, Barry, Dec, Dempsey, pundit, Collins, etc...(sorry but there's too many to mention and I know I've missed out loads). Some good new guys too.

There are a lot of great posters on British forum too, people like Bennie, jamesmcdonell and Terry D spring to mind but there are lots of others who are really good too.

I think Granberry goes on the attack a bit too quick but he brings a fresh view to some topics and knows his stuff. I actually like his posts when he just sticks to the boxing.

I think Jaclem, Buzz and Terr D are very readable posters. They are excellent writers.

Most all the guys mentioned have a very good grasp on the history of the sport and although most of us often disagree with various aspects it certainly leads to some good debates, but what I feel is most important about a message board, such as this one, is that there are various opinions on a subject and everyone has something to add which most often allows us to read several different view-points on a topic.

Guys like Decagon, well, we have been in some heated exchanges which have nothing to do with boxing, but overall I enjoy debating boxing with him when we disagree on a topic. Other than just reading every single thing a person can get their hands on, debates with people who have a different opinion is a great way to learn more about the sport.

Of course there are also some idiots who couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time, but I don't have to mention who they are! Overall, I think the biggest percentage of that type of poster is pretty much silenced by the moderators, unless they are talking boxing...which is rare for the village idiots, but most of the nonsense is deleted.

As to the top posters mentioned, keep up the good debates...it's what makes the site one of the best on the net for discussion!

KOJOE, ringsider, theone...too...

But 2 guys I think should be mentioned who know boxing but who I rarely seem to agree with are BB and senya. I appreciate their knowledge just not their conclusions. It's good to have them on the site though.
