Setanta coverage was shocking

Id rather have the fights with shit commentery, than not have them.

Very true, but my question is why have shit commentary... especially when you have someone like Woodhall on board. All Setanta needed to do was swap Jacobs and Woodhall around and that would have improved it 10 fold.

Surely ex fighters like Bobby Vanzie would be available haven't prized themselves out.

I suppose its difficult to get the right mix at first. If it hasnt settled in say 10 fights time, and its still shit, then theres something wrong somewhere. trial and error from the irish TV executives??

It should be relatively simple to get an adequate mix. A decent main commentator describing the action with a fairly articulate ex fighter analysing it in running. Boxing commentating is not a new phenomenon and Setanta only have to look to examples of where it is done well.

Obviously it is great to see more boxing made available to us. If having a little moan will help improve its presentation then it is to the benefit everyone concerned.

I sent an email to Setanta congratulating them on securing more boxing for their channel, but gave my opinions as to where I think their presentation could be improved.

only got round to watching the show today....the commentary was terrible, inaccuracies aside... it was so boring...Magee landed a big shot in the 5th which barely got acknowledged.....i have criticised the Rawling-McKenzie pairing in the past...McKenzie is often guilty of getting too excited, but i'd take them any day over Brown (?) and Jacobs, whose slurring monotone would have had me catching Zs if the action had been anything less than decent

it is early days for Setanta....as it was for ITV when they had 'fight talk' with Barry and Duke, a feature so cringe inducing that my view became obstructed by the flowery patterns of the nearest cushion.......ah, and Gabriel Clarke's in-between rounds interview with McCullough........so yes, early days for Setanta
