I love the comments people leave on youtube. It really does attract the most illiterate dense imbeciles known to the internet.

Nah, with Froch the ref would just count to 9 and then Froch would pounce onto his feet and start shaking his fists and head. Johnson would then punch him to no effect before Froch would turn and point a finger at Johnson shouting "You!" at him. Then the epic comeback would begin.

froch wouldn't even last into the 9th with johnson.

i've always disagreed with people that say it weren't much of a punch.

that was a good right hander from johnson.

it was quick and on the temple which tends to shock the senses.

jones should have walked away after that really.

big fight with tito coming up.

if he loses that it really would be pointless continuing.

The great Johnson, who never lost a fight, who got robbed every time.

Johnson is way overrated. Froch isn't an old man - which is what Johnson basically beats. guys who haven't aged as well as himself - and so he'd bash up the Road Worrier.

I didn't post it in proposition of Froch fighting Johnson. I did it because, as a couple of you guessed, of the comparitive guards. Froch carries his left by his waist, and this is a perfect example of when the style can backfire badly.

I liked Froch better vs Tatevosyan. He was all business, no buggering about.

You know, Jones made it work for a long time, because he had such lighting reflexes and dazzling footwork. Carl doesn't have either, especially footwork as his power seems to come from really planting his feet.

Second, trainers who teach this technique teach about range. Close in, both hands go up, medium distance, one goes down and the shoulder is hunched. Look at Witter; look, even, at Mayweather. Furthermore, these guys seem to fight more side-on than Froch, which allows them to tuck their chins under the shoulder and lean right back, actually making it very hard to connect -- something which I don't believe Froch can do as effectively.

Finally, Froch doesn't have a trainer who teaches this style. It really is a subtle, nuanced style and I'd feel more comfortable if he had somebody who knew the intricacies of this defence on board.

Froch has looked better an better of late, after he had a few shaky fights against that Aussie journeyman and Gruenewold. But, I still stand by my conviction that he will be exposed at the top level.

Roy's punch resistance left him around the same time that Victor Conte and his 'Balco labs' got busted...

I also have to agree with Carbo - Froch has a style which he developed trying to emmulate his hero Naz but Naz had speed and accuracy and was more side on to his opponent - Eubank was another looking like a Praying Mantis on the attack - They were exceptional fighters who did reach world level but Froch doesnt look anything like as good as either of them - If you do have an unorthodox style sooner or later you will get caught and against the top men in the SM division I can see that happening to Froch - I could see straight away the point being made in the film clip with Jones holding his arm far too low - Froch only needs to tire in a fight and lose concentration and the same sort of blow will take him out - OK he might get up but if the ref decides to stop it Froch will have an and 1 on his record - Froch will win against Reid but if he steps up to current world class rather than former I can see him getting a hammering.

Do you remember dodson saying on this bored that it really isn't as easy as it looks to punch him because as soon as you are in range he hits you and hard

Dodson came into Froch's changing room after the fight with his dad and they acknowledged Carl is damn good fighter and said he'd never been hit by such a sickening puncher and they gave him props.

I don't think armchair fans appreciate how difficult it is to launch an attack whilst remain defensively tight !

And Froch can wack hard when he spots those holes.

froch has still got a lot to prove.

yeah he's beaten the domestic guys like magee and dodson, but there's a big world out there and some very good fighters on the world scene.

it's time for hennessy to step up and deliver for carl.

Fair enough if you dont like Carl, but dont let it cloud your judgment. Sure he turned Pro late, that's not in dispute. However -

Carl is number 1 mandatory to the WBC strap.

He has destroyed his last 3 and 'toughest' opponents (2 x KO 1 x TKO ) so when he steps it up he is everything he says he is.

He KO'd Henry Porras, the guy who KO'd Ajendro Berrio the current 168lb IBF champ in America.

Furthermore he has called out Calzaghe in the press and on TV to no avail.

Add to the above, that Warren is breaking his neck to sign Froch - offering huge purse for the doomed Adamu fight and even more for the Robin Reid fight to get Froch on his Cardiff show - plus calling carl with an offer to fight for him and then upon being rejected, starts to tell tales on Froch in the papers to weaken his relationship with Hennessy.

If you mean 'step it up' like these other Brits :-

David Haye, who got KTFO by the Cat

or Joe Calzaghe who, in his last 4 fights has fought 2 light-middles and 1 middle ? whilst publicly saying on his website that Kessler would never be an opponent because the Americans didnt know him....

... then HBO then get Kessler's fight on their station and ESPN have Kessler as a special guest on their Friday night fights !

I'm not making the above up - they are fact.

Porras probably beat a green Berrio though. The IBF rate crap fighters too.

Would Froch beat those guys on pure skill If he didn't hit so hard? He's been counter punched by some Aussie and been outworked at times.

Yeah and Froch has turned down a fight with Calzaghe.

Was it froch who couldn't get the fight with calzaghe because Warren wanted options (I seem to remember something to do with him being offered the fight by text message).

To be honnest I have liked froch since watching ameters in the world championships not sure what hand to look at because his left was low, however the thing I realy respect is that on about a days notice he chainged opponents for dodson to Adamu which was not an easy opponent as one could have expected but a meaningful commonwealth fight. You can't help but respect that about a boxer as it shows they are willing to take challenging fights.

I want to see him step up to world or european level after the reid fight (which he is taking after a lay off because of injury), I also assume he wants to aswell. Saying would he be that good without a shot is irrelivent the fact is his style has developed because of his power (i.e if I get you in range I can KO you) I don't know if tyson would have been as good without his power but that is immatireal because power is part of the profesional sport however his impressive ameter record would suggest he also hits people rather a lot.
