Hussy & Skinny

Post by Billy Hussein »

Skinny will be back in the ring on Friday 8th June against a undefeated international opponent at his new division LIGHTWEIGHT.

Hussy is ranked #2 by the WBC and we are in talks with WBC #3,#4 for a eliminator to bring to Australia.

Both in training and look great!

Those losses in there title fights have been a big learning experience, and i still believe they can win world titles.

Thanks for the update Billy. Why the move to Lightweight? Was Skinny having trouble with the lighter weight or do you just see better oportunities for him higher? Would you consider a match with Katsidis?

Hope you don't mind all the questions mate :)

Good luck with there fights, They both have the skills to be world champions its just a matter of getting the right fights. If Hussy could get a fight in Australia im sure he would take the title.

Hi Marlin, Skinnys had 2 shots at world titles and both times he was struggling to make weight, the first one against oscar larios 55.3kg, he didnt fight at that weight for over 2 years so the whole prep was about weight and not game plan, and the second one against scott harrison it was during ramadan our holy month and it was at 57kg,so wasnt really prepared but took the opportunity and almost beat harrison but he was better then skinny on the day no excuses.
Now we feel that at 61kg his stronger, doesnt have to lose much weight while in training, and his getting older so weight is a bit of a prob.
Skinny will love the chance to fight Katsidis, there good mates and have done sparring before so it will be great fight, also will fight Pedan or St Clair.

Billy, good luck to the lads they are both good enough to win a title.

Be good to see them fight more competitive opponents though leading up to 'world' title challenges. A few too many poor quality opponents against whom they will learn nothing.

I think that Lightweight would be perfect for Skinny he was a very tall 122 and 126 pounder and it must have killed him to make weight for his fights.
You could see in the Larios fight that he had struggled to make the weight as he wasn't his usual self in there.

Billy did you ever contemplate pulling on the gloves as your 2 brothers are top boxers and surely you would have done good yourself.

Hey Ben, i had 22 amateur fights myself, but i enjoyed training boxers alot more.
As we were growing up, the 3 of us used to have wars in the gym, sometimes our trainer had to split us up. Brotherly love. :D

Do you think there is any chance of getting Pongsaklek to come to Australia or would he want to much?.
Ive seen the first fight and it was a very even fight im sure fighting over here Hussy could take the title. I think he could win there also but he would really need to beat him convincingly to get the decision.

Will Nedal be fighting here or overseas on June 8th.
Thanks again sorry for so many questions.

I will love to bring Pong to Aust and fight Hussy, there 1st fight was close and considering it was fought in 50 degree heat at the famous Lumpinee Stadium, Hussy done really well. They train in the heat all year round so there bodies are used to it. If i bring him to oz il make the fight in winter. :D
Skinnys fight will be in Aust live on Fox Sports ,but il let the promoter announce it,when his ready.

No offence to Hussy but if Pong was willing to come to Australia I'm sure Vic Darchinyan would be first in line to face him...

Billy, as one of the premier trainers in Aus are you interested in pitting our best fighters against each other? You mentioned Skinny would like a fight against Katsidis (which would be absolute fireworks), Peden (I'm not sure how much he has left to give) and St Clair (another cracker of a fight) and that would be great but what about our other top fighters like Geale, Medley, Dawson, Bika, Oganov? How much say does Angelo have in which fights take place?

Thanks again for fielding all our questions mate :TU:

We want to put the best fights on so once my promotional team and sponsorships deals get better i promise you there will be exciting match ups.

I dont work for Fenech anymore so when it comes to his fighters and promotions i got nothing to do with it anymore. :D

Angelo Hyder is the matchmaker for old school grange boxing gym he has the say when it comes to Geale.Medley etc.

Myself and Tommy Mercuri are co promoting our next show on Fri 4th May @ Club Marconi.

Vic is dying to fight Pong, but i think vic will go up a division very soon as there are no real challenges left at flyweight.
