Rob Medley v Isaac Hlatshwayo
Rob Medley v Isaac Hlatshwayo
How do we see this one going?
Hlatshwayo has wins over Nate Campbell, Cassius Baloyi, Philip N'dou and Aldo Rios.
Medlay hasn't fought anyone close to that class but there is no dening he has talent.
The question might again come down to whether feasting on scrubs has prepared Medley well enough for this fight...
So who thinks he can pick up the IBO strap?

Spot on assessment Hlatshwayo has fought the better opposition, but Medley does look like he has the goods, Medley by decision in AustraliaMarlin wrote:How do we see this one going?

Medley recently beat Kaiser Mabuza who has been the distance with Hlatschwaya, and Somchai Nakbalee who beat Ganoy in his first fight, which was about Ganoy's twentieth. This is also only Hlatschwaya's second fight at welterweight. Medley is a big welterweight and very strong. He should give a good account of himself.

i know rob very well so if you want answers! ask me. the only time he got hit on the chin was a haay maker off nio nio gonzarless, for rob it was a matter of somebody stepping up to him. he finds it hard to get fighters eg chad bennett. i think he will win this fight, that will open better doors. after all top gym, great trainers. spars and trains with the best. i can not wait. so lets all get behind rob and help take him to the next level

, He has looked good in his fights so far but he was hurt by Gonzales and there are big hitters at 147 on the world scene. It may have been a bit of inexperience as he has taken hard shots in other fights also and didnt seem to bothered.
He is very tall for a Welterweight does he struggle to make weight as he could easily fight at 154 IMO.

I reckon Pittman will stay at supermiddle and Geale should fight Dawson.
Hollywood is no scrub either, I was impressed that he rematched Jangphonak and knocked him out. It was good to see that he wanted to make a mends and prove a point. If they fought I would have to favour Medley but I reckon it would be a decent scap.

Medley's team has offered Chad Bennet out numerous times in the past. There have been 30000 reasons why Bennet should fight Medley, but in the end, if you have to protect your record with mediocre opposition then so be it.
Deadly would KO Bennet within 5!
Thats the real reason why Bennet wont fight Rob Medley.

Does anyone else have any tips for this fight?
I've seen Medley a couple of times, and was generally impressed, although not by his chin, which looked suspect.
He is much bigger than Hlatshwayo, who is a smallish welterweight in comparison, but has a much more impressive resume. I'm going for a Medley decision victory, as Hlatschwayo does not have a high KO%, and Medley will be going in with a hometown advantage plus a big size advantage.

It was classed as a slip. No argument that Hlatschwayo was a clear winner, but the refereeing was a bit odd. No stranger than the commentary though. Raymond called punches that didn't land and missed punches that did. At one stage he raved about a jab Hlatschwayo hit Medley with and ignored Medley's countering right cross that would have taken a regular fighter's head off.Trent wrote:I seen the fight live. Was that a knock down at the end? i thought is was going to be a chavez taylorihad my hopes up... good fight and a good fight venue, its a shame the toilet light went out haha
Was funny when before the fight they were bidding for medley poster, i think some dude bid like over 1500 for it. after the fight id say the value of it will be going down. was a good fight night, beers were not that expensive, kinda hung over. that was my first fight i ever seen live. I'll be watching more, the atmosphere was great.
I thought it might be a big test and Hlatschwayo proved he is a true world class fighter. The South African had one of the best jabs ive seen in a while and it didnt miss id love to see the punchstats of his shots, he missed a lot with the right but his left was excellent.
Medley should be proud of his effort as he tried as much as he could against a far more experienced guy, I think Robbie will learn a lot from this fight and if he can get a few solid opponents should have a crack at the world scene again. Its a little worrying that he got dropped again as Hlatschwayo only had 9 KOs out of 28 wins so he is far from a power puncher.
I agree Brute Andy Raymond is an ass clown he has no idea how to call a fight and talks utter nonsence for 90% of the time.
