What do you mean "according to one report"??? Watch the damn tape.MIKEE wrote:Verbal: According to one report ('War, Baby' by Kevin Mitchell) McClellan was showing signs of damage - uncontrolled blinking, inabilty to comprehend, from fairly early in the fight.
Gerald was blinking and pushing his gummie out from about the fourth onwards. The clash of heads/butt was later in the fight, when Gerald was having problems already.
As for the "butt", it was a glancing blow, at worst. It didn't even cause a cut.
Most Americans who like to comment on this fight have clearly never seen it. They insist Benn was KO'd early on (even being knocked out of the ring Benn was back up and in well before the 10 count), that he was helped back into the ring after said 'KO' (one hand near his head from someone sitting ringside is all the 'help' he got), that the referee was helping Benn by seperating the fighters when they clinched or even got near one another (McClellan did ALL his good work at range so how would such action aid Benn?) and that Benn butted his way to victory (the odd blown-out-of-all-proportion accidental head clash).
As for saying the ref should've stopped the fight because of the early KD... well Benn did recover, get up and win, so clearly the ref made a good call in that instance.
All in all it's best to ignore any American opinion (now or then).
