The UK Challengers> Farr vs Bugner

Post by Robinson »

Hey guys...out of these two classic UK challengers who do you pick in a
hypothetical match up between the Hungarian-Brit cum Aussie big Joe Bugner versus the talented and experienced Welshman Tommy Farr.

Say its the 1940 version of Farr and its the 1972 version of Bugner.

Who do you like and how do you see it going ?

Bugner on points, bigger and more skilled. Farr would do the distance easily as he was teak tough

I think a lot of people underestimate Joe. He went the distance with Ali twice I think. All in all he was a reasonable challenger

I think Bugner takes the decision.
He has size and refinement on his size, which over comes Farr's stubborness, stamina and always consistent jab.

Disagree.

Farr by clear decision. Yes, Bugner was bigger but he often fought like the smaller man and often allowed himself to get outworked. Farr had a first-rate jab and had excellent stamina, along with pretty good overall skills. He will be in Joe's face all night and I don't see Bugner ever finding that comfort zone which he always sought when he dictated the pace.
