Johnny nelsons book

Post by big lennox »

Its called Hard road to glory. Its a cracking read; full of humour, and insight. I strongly reccommend it to any boxing fan.

Thanks for the recommendation Johnny..I mean Big Lennox, I will be sure to check it out! :D

I think the most interesting period for me would be his days in the winderness, contesting the WBF Heavyweight strap in places like Brazil, Austrailia etc.

He was a real nomad of the boxing world at that time; does the book detail his travels during this period??

It does. Its a very entertaining read covering everything from early boxing/school days right through to the attempted kidnapping plot.I'm not Johnny incidently, although I was lucky enough to train alongside him for a while at Brendans gym, when I was keeping fit. A smashing fella, and a real hero of mine.

As long as the book is a bit of an 'entertainer'....

Boxing News gave it a good review.

It's on my 'to get' list.

I didnt really think he was Johnny Beagle - Big Lennox has been posting on these boxing boards for years - it just struck me that his review could have been written by The Entertainer himself, it was so glowing! :D

When is your pal Rhodes getting back in the ring out of interest? He may have once been the Spice Boy but if he doesnt get a move on he will be soon referred to as Old Spice! 8)

I am living and working in London now, and with my student loan still to be paid off I would very much like to swop bank accounts with Johnny. I hope your keeping well? I'm going to Juniors fight in a couple of weeks at the dome, so see you there if you're going?

TT,
Fighting at the beginning of October (Rhodes) at 11st 2lbs to satsfy the board he can do Light Middle,
After that, he's looking to clallenge the Light Middle belt holders.
A match up with Bradley Pryce would be good.
I know that you're aware of Big Lennox, just wanted to wind him up about his finances !
All the best mate.

In the book, does Nelson mention the names of the venues in Sao Paolo, Brazil where he fought Adilson Rodrigues?

Yeah he does.

Book is a great read and better than most boxing bios.

Loved the bit about getting offered a bung to take a dive against Dave Russell and the fight itself.
