Best chinned import
There's a thread on boxers of the past about best chins and it got me thinking, which foreign fighter has shown the toughest chin fighting in the UK?
For me it's got to be Marcos Villasana

Same here, I've never seen anyone take his lumps like Oliver did against Lewis, that was nothing short of phenomenal, huge full blooded right hands right on the button, from one of the hardest heavyweight punchers in the history of the division, and he literally didn't even blink!knockout wrote:McCall all the way for me. :-)
physically he could take Lewis' hardest shots but mentally they fvcked him up. In the 2nd fight when he found that Lewis could jolt him at will he just caved in. Even if he already was a head case.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Same here, I've never seen anyone take his lumps like Oliver did against Lewis, that was nothing short of phenomenal, huge full blooded right hands right on the button, from one of the hardest heavyweight punchers in the history of the division, and he literally didn't even blink!knockout wrote:McCall all the way for me. :-)

Well, he was crying before he even got in the ring.Autobarn wrote:physically he could take Lewis' hardest shots but mentally they fvcked him up. He was literally dragged off the streets by King for the fight, he'd gone nuts following his win over Lewis and spent all his time getting spanked on crack. He was supposed to be a sacrifical lamb for King to get his hooks into Lewis, no way should McCall have been allowed in a ring the condition he was in mentally.
I don't agree with all this. How come there's always a reason - underlying - for Lewis' wins?#
McCall cried before Bruno and was a tearful guy.
He was already a nutter, he was a crackhead, but he was taking flush right uppercuts and realised he couldn't defend against them and obviously didn't want to keep taking those chin wrenching shots.
You have to give lewis credit for landing such hard shots too.

I'm a Lewis fan not a hater, but facts are facts McCall was a cracknhead who had been dragged off the streets for the fight.Autobarn wrote:I don't agree with all this. How come there's always a reason - underlying - for Lewis' wins?#

Lewis was landing good shots, but McCall was out of shape, out of focus and was hardly defending himself
well, every time I read these boards, it's like,
so & so was too old, so & so was exposed, so & so had a china chin, and it goes on forever.
Don't get me wrong, lewis could be a bore & I never was a fan at the time, but he was fighting the system, the promoters, the sanctioning bodies in the mid 90s and gets no credit for doing what he did in this period
McCall did try to come in low, come under lewis' shots. He ran into right uppercuts and couldn't hack it this time with something coming back when he tried to repeat his 1st fight success.
Lewis made a lot of ppl do funny things. Bowe dumped the WBC belt in the bin. Evander tried to fight HENRY AKINWANDE instead & when the fight was finally on, went into a headcase delusion involving a 3rd rd KO. Golota mentally caved in.
