Olympians living in Colorado? Yes or NO
I was gonna say; I thought they barely ever had those, the only person I know who's taken the TTT course is I think Lenny Spaulding, the coach from Billings (I believe he's a Level III, looking to get his Level IV so he could have the opportunity to work with the national team).boxmel wrote:Probably not until USAB gets some money. And who knows when that will be!!! I'd like to go again - it's been 8 years since I was at TTT.

I thought long and hard about how it would feel if my boxer had to go to Co. for a year. It can play on your ego that others might not think you can do the job as well as them. There are also those lingering memories of boxers that were taken from coaches that they had worked with for years and then lead to big names for thier pro carreer. It did happen. Then there was the issue of how it would effect your boxers ability to perform better. Years ago, boxers went out to camp and coaches would try to change the way they boxed to meet thier own coaching phylosophies, so coaches were reluctant to send thier kids. Dan Campbell was a big part of changing all that and did everthing to assure coaches that they did not want to change a boxers style, just get them ready for international compitition. Truth is, it can be a roll of the dice wheather it is good or bad, but sometimes, no matter how good your relationship is with a boxer, it is good for them to hear things from another perspective, or hear what you have been saying all along from another coach. In the end I am sure I would have sent my boxer and kept in contact with him to feel out if what was happening was helping him get better. But in the very end it turned out all my concern was for nothing.

Olympians living in Colorado? Yes or NO
Yes, they will get home sick... I will bet my life that they will get home sick . That isn't the end of the world they will move on and get stronger, time will not stop... 08/08/08 will come and they will preform at the highest level... Most have probally never been away from home for that long, except for Chris Downs who is a man, and I feel will be the man to step up and lead this team. He has been tought to lead(in the army) and I am sure he will.
I am not sure if they are in Colorado Springs yet!!
I know the Worlds are coming up real fast and they need to be in camp real soon anyway. I feel we should stop babying grown athletes and let/make them grow up, and be the Olympians that they are. They will be okay if they don't get a good night hug or have there mothers pick out their cloths for the next day.
Our Olympians will grow from this trust me... The High School(Palmer) is a great school, I have a diploma from there. I believe Javier is the same age I was when I moved there(Colorado Springs)... They will all be okay!! I was still in the 11th grade going 12th, yes I did get home sick, but I didn't die. I kept pushing and the time(2 years) actually went fast. They will get everything they need there and more. It will be a great experience for the whole team.
Looking back I loved every moment of it, and I am so glad I stuck it out and made the most of it... I did come home for the holidays and for my senior prom. I got to come home one other time to box international against South America. If my son was at this level, I would push him to live there and get the great experience.
