Apparently many thousands of seats have been reserved for "high rollers"

Ricky's dad just been on BBC saying Hatton is fuming that his supporters who have followed him over many years are being denied the opportunity to see this fight...they are now making a formal protest and stated that they are taking the matter very seriously.

Too late for a venue change surely?
No threats of the fight being off is there?

Ray should have seen this one coming to be honest and stipulated a set number of tickets for British fight fans as a clause in the fight contract.

No not at all, Hatton is hardly going to not fight lol, but as people have been saying, there may be hell in Vegas that weekend with all the Brits with no tickets, I''ll be one of them seeing as i booked it a month ago.

Don't mean I'll be making trouble btw, just that I'll be there..

The simply answer is to put the prices of tickets up. If there are only 3500 tickets and 10,000 fans want then quadruple the price and then only 3500 fans will want them. Problem solved :D

Brits is Vegas not able to get tickets spells a little problem. A worse one could be if Hatton loses.

Hatton fight ticket storm
Stuart Brennan, manchester eveningnews.co.uk
4/ 9/2007

RICKY Hatton says he is "gutted" that 10,000 of his fans could be left ticketless in Las Vegas for his showdown with Floyd Mayweather Junior.

American promoters Golden Boy have indicated that they will only release 3,900 tickets for British fight fans, and the Hitman has urged his handlers to do everything in their power to land an increased allocation.

Hatton's own company Punch Promotions estimates that as many as 13,000 fight fans may already have booked flights and accommodation to the desert city for the December 8 clash, and there are fears that the size of the allocation could lead to a black market bonanza.

There is already talk of the £500 seats which make up 70 per cent of the arena going for up to £10,000 for a fight which could cement Hatton as a genuine boxing legend, as he takes on a fighter regarded by many as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in history.

Hatton learned of the allocation during a brief business trip to Spain, and urged his dad and agent Ray Hatton to do all he could to secure more tickets. In his last appearance in Vegas, in June, Hatton was supported by around 9,000 British fight fans in a crowd of 13,000.

"I have never seen Ricky more gutted than he is about this," said Ray, who is still hoping to get Golden Boy to reconsider the allocation. "We have already asked them if we can send some of the more expensive $1,000 tickets back in exchange for more of the cheaper tickets, but we are still awaiting an answer.

Nightmare

"Ricky has asked us to do whatever it takes to get more of his fans out there, but it isn't that easy, unfortunately.

"It's an absolute nightmare for all of us, because we want to get as many fans out there as possible."

The only response from the American promoters so far is to suggest that a nearby venue could be rigged up with closed circuit TV showing the fight live to 6,000 fans, which would be scant consolation for those left without tickets.

Punch Promotions requested 10,000 tickets but the capacity of the MGM Grand hotel's Garden Theater was originally set at 16,800.

MEN Sport understands that Golden Boy have now reduced that figure to 15,150, a third of which will go to the MGM Grand itself - the casino uses them to entice high-rollers during the fight weekend.

Of the remaining tickets, Golden Boy will keep 2,350 and Mayweather wants 3,900.

Hatton's camp have been warning Golden Boy for some time that demand in Britain would be huge. The Americans were taken aback at the size of Hatton's following in June.

That led to a round of intense negotiations about the venue for the Mayweather fight, which is bound to create much more interest in the US, and at one stage it was being mooted that it could be switched to the bigger Staples Center basketball arena in Los Angeles.

But the MGM Grand won the fight to stage the contest, and now it is feared that it could become a touts' paradise.

Events coordinator Michael Meadowcroft said: "The Americans are saying they want the same kind of atmosphere that the British fans provided at the Thomas and Mack Center in June, but now they appear to have given up on that idea.

"They told us about the closed circuit idea, but we have said that people won't want to fly all the way to Vegas to sit in a picture house."
Doesn't look good for getting a fight ticket and a flight that doesn't go via Siberia

Personally I don't think there'll be any trouble (of significance) from the Barmy Army over there

t is a crap way for the MGM and Golden Boy to treat fans, but the bottom line is that the casinos want high rollers in their drum after the fight and on the friday night not British boxing fans who only want to spend at bar.

There will be loads of casinos there charging 50 bucks to watch it in ballrooms on big screens.

It's fair enough Chris, in a sense anyway, the Casino will have paid a huge site fee for this, and they want to recoup that figure.

The Casino bosses will stipulate to the arena boss (whose name I forget now), how many tickets to allocate and how many to reserve for corporate packages.

Given that the grand garden arena only holds about 14,000 at maximum capacity (as far as I can remember), then they want to get some high rollers in.

Watching it on closed circuit in a ballroom ain't a bad option, but then again, might as well watch it with your mates and hire a venue, which is what I think I am going to do.

Personally I don't want to go halfway round the world to watch the fight down the road from where its taking place. I think I'll watch it on my settee and go and watch David Haye over there when he conquers the world??

At times its fecking hard work being a boxing fan

What we need is abit of proportional representation, they should average out how many fans both boxers brought to their respective last 5 fights and split the ticket allocation that way :TU: :TU:

Did 10k actually go to Vegas last time? 10k is a lot of people. We know certain individuals took 10k tickets to sell in the UK, but did they sell them all or were they stuck with over 4k of unsold tickets, which they had personally guaranteed payment for and, incidentally have only just settled, under duress.

Hatton's Dad should have made sure the tickets were there before he done the deal, when he was in the driving seat. Truth is I doubt neither him or Ricky really give a shit either way.

There were certainly more than than 6,000 there as you're hinting. Perhaps plenty of them went direct to box office for tickets.

Only BC could criticise a boxer for "only" selling 6000 tickets for a fight round the other side of the world.

Tickets run in 5 catagories from £95 to £640.
The allocation is 3900.
There have been in excess of 30,000 applications.
It is £40 for the closed circuit screening.

It cost £100k to book the MEN. I think fwanky would put it on!

Maybe we should?

5000 tickets covers the venue

15k x 20 = £300k!

Maybe I should sell my property and do it?

Man City are away at Spurs that day, I think that helps rather than hinders.

Someone would also be advised to put on Gomez, Jennings etc as a card at the venue, then lower big screens.....

I'm in the wrong game.
