Martin has contributed a ton of material on South American boxers to the database. Record after record of pretty much every single South American contender who ever fought as well as rare fighters that few people even know of. I honestly do not know anyone who is as knowledgable about South American boxing as Martin...he also a true class act!

though i was very hurt that my poem ostensibly written by robert herrick about the fictional bout between john milton and george herbert in which milton lost his sight gained not a single reply. you cultureless shitheads

My work and personal obsession involves Peruvian boxers' records. Without Martin's help I wouldn't have gotten anywhere.

I rarely put a lot of effort into grammar on internet message boards, which is not done out of disrespect, but there is some common courteousness which one can take on forums, such as the occasional spaces in a long paragraph, as Terry D mentioned.

Though I think that internet forums must absolutely drive English teachers mad, as well as the “intellectual” writer, who often views the internet as the downfall of proper English grammar!

marciano/walcott - front row of albee theatre balcony (cicinnati)...press section...as a guest ... that's when closed circuit fights were often shown in movie theatres. loved the first twelve rounds..

gavilan/basilio - in front of my tv set in the apartment i shared as a newlywed with my wife...who also happened to be a newlywed. i thought basilio won.

gavilan/graham....it sounds nuts, as i liked both fighters and was addicted to boxing....but i can't recall seeing any of their matches!!!..though i'm sure i must have if they were televised. i have seen the film of the one in which so many have said they thought graham won.

clay/liston....same seat as the marciano/walcott....but this time as a part of the press.... to report on the fight on my radio show..

johansenn/patterson....first fight, albee theatre....second fight..same situation as clay/liston

third fight....working as a night club comic...my followers of boxing friends came in and told me about it...i can't remember when i first saw the film on tv. opinion - the mandatory eight count probably saved patterson from getting kayoed...and johannsen beat he count but by that time I think he would have got kayoed by patterson had the fight goner on. ingemar was a front runner all the way..

oops...forgot..the pep/saddler series....out getting drunk with high school freinds.....for the first two....have seen the last two only on film on tv.
i remember hearing the result of the second one on the news just before ...and read about the others in the morning papers.

..i was in chicago (lived in cincinnati then,) doing a promo for a comedy record i made with a friend....and doing a bit at mister kelly's. we had both met lenny and were a the gate of horn the night lenny got busted.( he yold us before the show that he had a hunch he was going to get nailed) george carlin was appearing at the playboy club when he was half of the duo of burns and carlin..(burns was jack burns who later worked with avery schreiber for a while) before george went out on his own. george was in his early twenties and looked young, and the cops wanted to get as much as they could on the club, so they hoped they could find someone underage being served...and they asked for IDs. george refused to show his so he got arrested too, which is what he wanted to do anyway.

i had met lenny when he came on the radio show i hosted with my Lp partner (eventually I took it over myself) and my wife was an invalid and lenny stopped at our house to say hello and stayed for over an hour. on in the car drive to my place from the radio show he started doing some routines...one was "how to make your negro friends feel welcome" and I think this was before he recorded it and made it part of his nightlclub act.
..i know my friend and i had never heard it before)

i guess i should do something to justify this being on a boxing forum, so i'll add that when i saw archie moore beat oakland billy smith at cincinnati's music hall sports arena, later on i knew ezzard was going to beat joe walcott because if he could beat archie three times he'd take jersey joe when they fought, because archie was so great i concluded ezz could beat anybody.
