Hi,
I am a new boxer trying to get started, and don't know where to begin, i am a 43 year old female wanting to make my pro debut. i have been training for 3 years and am told i'm too old to fight amateur i know i'm late getting started but is that really my fault i didn't know i had potential in this great sport earlier in life. i have been training for 3 years and work really hard in the gym. I had one amatuer fight in june of this year which i won in a unanymous decision. i love this sport and really want to fight all i need is an opponent.
if anyone has any suggestions please let me know i have tried locally through a manager here and am having no luck. i know i can't be the only one out there
thanks

As you're probably well aware, the number of female boxers is vastly smaller than the male number, which makes finding an opponent, let alone agreeing terms, much harder. And heavyweight is an even smaller group. Boxrec currently has 13 female heavyweight boxers that are active stored in the database (active means they fought within the last year.)millerlc63 wrote:michigan, but wiling to travel

On the plus side, all but one are from the US. So that's an idea of how tough it is to get an opponent. BUT...a promotor or manager will do that for you. So instead of looking for an opponent, you're priority should be to find a manager, who will find you an opponent, along with a venue, a card to fight on etc.
I know you mentioned you tried to find a manager but had no luck. Why we've been mentioning Stacy Goodson's name, is that he's a manager and promotor (based in Arkansas) who will make fights for anyone really. Age, experience etc. shouldn't be a problem. He is also married to, and manages, Sarah Goodson, one of the belt holders at minimumweight.
If you and Stacy (for example) agreed terms, he would then come back to you in time with an opponent. There are two options here. One is that he finds you someone similar to yourself - making their debut. The other is that he finds you a fight with someone who has lots of experience - Vonda Ward for example, is fighting someone making their debut because there's a lack of options re female fighters http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer Taking a fight like that would make you much more money, but would be extremely difficult to come out of a winner.
