Have just read Lester Ellis's autobiography," Fighting the Demons, the Lester Ellis Story", co-written with Robert Drane.
What a hell of a life! Lester makes no excuses for his excesses,saying now he is a recovering alcoholic, but he made all the mistakes himself. He does take issue with Boxrec's claim that he was stripped of the IBO Junior Middleweight titlebecause of "misbehaviour", saying that he handed the belt back because Junior Middles were too big for him (the Mundine fight had a lot to do with his alcoholism). He also says that the bloke who was supposed to pay him for that fight skipped town with his prizemoney.
