if you study fighter records you get to see loads of fighters with excellent records who just seem to stop abruptly, sometimes after a loss or a draw but sometimes not...

for example dana rosenblatt retired at just 30 with a superb record ...why ?

also the fighter mentioned by mr scully - troy wortham seems to have retired early after his loss to vasquez at just 26...

surely there was more money to be made by both these fighters ?

Well I noticed that he cut alot and looked to always be like that in the ring. he was a very tough guy and looked to have more bigger fights ahead of him. though he had 38 fight i believe already at that age, could have been worn out!

he had only lost once, surely there was a big payday out there for him ?....
all that hard work to get to the top, some decent wins and then ...no more...
what about wortham he was only 26 and had a respectable record...?

troy fought some avg guys and then called it quite after his loss with Vasquez! maybe he had enough? or just wanted something else. Boxing is so tough and it gets harder and harder as the fights go on!

Rosenballt retired after his last fight as it was stopped prematurely do to a bad cut by a headbutt. Dana has a nice job in computers and has chosen not to get back into the ring. I was at his final fight, it was my first pro fight.

i can understand not fighting if you can earn the scratch behind a computer or without getting hit...
getting paid to get punched is hard work i am sure and anyone who has an alternative is likely to use it after a certain point i think...

Dana makes a lot more money nowadays then he could being a fulltime professional boxer.

He also had a kickboxing career before he got into boxing (I think he was a champion in kickboxing), so there was probably more miles on the tires then we saw while he was boxing.

would it be fair to say that the cash money in fighting outside the elite is significantly lower ?...
i mean how many fights a year does a fighter need and at what level to provide for himself/family...
i guess tv helps but i get the feeling these guys are not earning big bucks outside the world class fighters
