I'll make him lean back, like Del Boy did in that classic, never mind. Floyd gave birth to a litter of little brown puppies when we inked this contract. Yer, sorry, Ya'll might be hatin' on Slick Ricky but come the 8th ya'll gonna be loving Slicky Rick. Recognize, thanks to Iceberg Slim for writing my trash talk. Fiddy or Kanye? I prefer MF DOOM, rizpec'."
We'd be sat here saying he had lost the plot. Floyd is going to shout a lot and after he's finished shouting he will say, "Did you see how loud I shouted, I owned that debate." He's American for gods sake, he is going to say more, say it louder but won't say anything witty.
Outside the ring, as inside, it's a case of contrasting styles. I thought the dancing quip was the more cutting considering Floyd was upset by the remarks post-Castillo.
Ricky knows what he's doing - playing the smiling, respectful quiet man, ignoring floyd's monkeying around. Mayweather is such a tool - and why do American hip hop types and athletes talk about themselves in the 3rd person....who do they think they are, Julius effing Caesar?
(I know Lennox used to do this also.....used to bug me too.)
Both of you find it confusing Joshua has always been quite confident with it.Terry D wrote:Ricky's next step in the war is to bound onstage to 'Big Pimping' wearing a shirt saying: 'There is only one Richard Fatton (and Richard Hatton knows this for a fact!)'.E wrote:Terry D wrote:Playing devils advocate here Search but if Hatton was quoted with such things as:

I find the 3rd person thing very confusing, as does Terry D.

Its brewing up nicely, can't wait.... Don't think its going to be the results us Brits want (except Search) but what a spectical.
I wonder if this big press tour is going to affect Hatton training schedule. Has he ever had to do this before? He normally does the one big press conference and then locked in training. Now, he's going to have to find time around a schedule to train..... Advantage Floyd.
Then you have Floyd's dancing with stars.... Surely a sign that he thinks the win is a certainty - taking Hatton lightly? Maybe, it looks like the thought has crossed Ricky's mind aswell.... Advantage Ricky.

"Vicky Fatton"
Wow, original.
Mayweather seems to be already talking up a rematch with that 2 for the price of one comment. Would be good business if the fight is competitive. The one thing that Mayweather has been lacking legacy wise is a legit rival, all the greats usually had a major rival they had to conquer.
By the sounds of it, Mayweather is going to fight like he did in the Gatti fight where he sort of stands in mid range and holds centre ring. He must think that Hatton is another Gatti but I don't think he'll unload on Hatton like he did on Gatti without consequence. If he stands to trade then Hatton will get his licks in. If Mayweather is smart he'll box, but with this being a HUGE stage with a come forward fighter that can possibly make things exciting, Mayweather might foolishly live up to his word and trade to answer his critics who say he's a bore.
I predict a split decision win for Hatton that sets up a rematch in Wembley.

"We need this guy rubbed out, call Joshua"
"Joshua who?"
"Fenton-Glynn, with two 'n's."
I like Floyd's antics, they seem tongue-in-cheek and that documentary with the stupid title showed how hard he works in the gym.[/quote]
Mayweather sounded like he was 5 years old with his insults. If that's the best he can do maybe he should keep his mouth shut...
And if Floyd thinks Ricky is another Arturo Gatti he's in for a rude awakening - different levels completely.

I agree Terry. The only way Hatton wins is if he wins ugly. He said so himself on skysports the other day, he's going to fight like he did against Tszyu.Terry D wrote:It is what I've been leaning towards. Tough, messy fight with lots of mauling mixed in with the scoring.I predict a split decision win for Hatton that sets up a rematch in Wembley.
This kind of annoys me, in the sense that Mayweather is a much better all round boxer, but Ricky knowing he can't compete by boxing/brawling he resorts to this hook and hold rubbish. Its physical and a "win by any means" attitude.
Where does Hatton go after this fight though if he wins? If its close you can bet Mayweather will want a rematch (ala Castillo) or if Hatton wins decisivly its either ODLH or the winner of Cotto v Mosely, fights where he would be a massive underdog.
Ones thing for sure if he wins, he can't go back to fighting Maussa/Urango level opponents.
If Hatton who has already beaten Tszyu and Castillo decisively... beats Mayweather decisively, he will start as the betting favourite vs Mosley, Cotto, DLH.dbf wrote:I agree Terry. Hatton has to get fit/lose weight and train for tactics
Mayweather has to train for his dancing and for his fighting.
Maybe there isn't too much difference.
I don't like the notion that Hatton might just nick it because Floyd has gone into dancing with the stars and might overtrain/underestimate. This is bollocks.
Also, Hatton's style is pressure. He did get tangled up too much with Collazo and Urango. But he showed some polish vs Castillo which I found encouraging. His style is always going to be too maul, and it's good to see him, say, pin a guy's left hand to his chest, take a sidestep and find the angle for a nasty body shot (as he did to Castillo).
Floyd must think he's preaching to a bunch of idiots. Shout, scream and act like a pathetic gibbering drooling idiot at the pressers, then on fight night get your running shoes on.

I wouldnt worry about tactics if I was Hatton.Autobarn wrote:Hatton has to get fit/lose weight and train for tactics

Just go out there and throw everything, including the referee, corner stoll and ringposts, at Floyd.
At the next press conference when Floyd starts mouthing off Ricky should just walk right over to him and tell him "yeah? I'm gonna bash you up you Yank Caaaannnnt!

Can't see Ricky doing this, mate. Hatton will probably remain calm & try ot crack a few laighs from time-to-time. By no means, should he just not retaliate to Floyd's antics whatsoever, but do it in a way which may reverse the roles & annoy Floyd!
I understand what you're saying about going in there & throw everything he has at Floyd, but seriously, if he doesn't bolt-down a game plan, strategy etc, Ricky would be in serious trouble come fight time.
There has to be method to his madness!
