Mayweather is an absolute dream for promoters. Hatton wouldn't be able to do this sort of thing with anyone else. You could put Mayweather against anyone and promote the fight.

How do you reckon that? Mayweather trash talk is hardly unique is it, he doesn't even do it very well in my book, James Toney and Bernard Hopkins knock spots of his fake shtick, because they are both genuine badasses. Toney ramps it up for the cameras, but he is essentially playing himself, a big fat, bald, black badass som'bitch. Likewise with hard nard.

Because he's a cock. People like booing dickheads, regardless how phony, more than they like cheering good guys. It's the fakeness that works for him. The fact that he's not a gangsta but thinks he is just makes him even easier to hate.

Loved the crack about dancing with the stars   :TU:

Mayweather acts like a total tool and with Ricky having such a good sense of humour he's good at showing him up.

Don't know what the f*k Sky were on about, "Errrr, we apologise, the pressure, the pressure..."

As for being a badass - can you imagine Toney or Hopkins entering the ring dressed as a homoerotic gladiator??? :-?

Well the good guy isn't supposed to swear hence sky bleating about pressure (imagen De La Hoya swearing).

I think the best trash talker is ricardo Mayorga do you remember when Cory Spinks deadicated a fight to his dead mother and Mayorga said he would see her soon.

I thought he looked somewhat rattled after the stare down on the other side of the pond. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.
I think Hatton was too relaxed rather than the other way around. He probably felt he should be on his best behaviour whilst on the US tour but once he was home he slipped back into his informal after dinner speaker persona.
It seemed to me that he just stopped censoring himself rather than lost his cool.

The Mayorga/Vargas interview on Showtime was hilarious with Ricardo smashed and smoking a cigar, shame the fight got delayed.

In 20 years' time most Mancs will probably be better off than Floyd anyway judging by his gambling habits and propensity for throwing away money...

Just watched Mayeather-Manfredy on YouTube and one of the clowns that has commented claims Manfredy was No.1 P4P at the time... :o

James, although I agree with most of your post, but this I cannot! Bernard Manning was well-reknown for his racism and in no way do I regard Ricky as a racist. Ive actually met Ricky and he is a true gentleman and loved by all UK fans from many different ethnic backgrounds.

To be fair Toney and Hopkins can both come across as ignorant twats. Toney in his old age came across as funny. I don't think it was so funny when he supposedly said to Eubank 'I'm going to beat you and your momma then im going to make her suck my d***' Toneys trash talk is also hardly witty and like Mayweather at heavyweight he was hardly Mr seek and destroy that his trashtalk perpetuated

As for BHOPs he had no grace burning the Peurto Rican flag or stamping on it or whatever he did - imagine if Hamed made a comeback went over there and burnt the American flag  If BHOPs was in super fights all the time people would tire of him pretty fast

Best Trash Talkers - Ali (belittling opponents), Tyson (pure evil)

Real trash talk should serve 2 purposes. 1 sell the fight and 2 Making an opponent feel either inferior or scared to gain an advanatge.

Yes Mayweather isnt the best trash talker, he isnt too smart but despite all that he can make opponents feel inferior and build up a certain degree of fight hype. Mayweather knows hes the best and imposes that on his opponents

At the end of the day you need the fists to back it all up

I was referring to his comedic ability not his politics.

Whilst I certainly didn't agree with Manning's outlook, he was a genuinely funny bloke, who I used to laugh at in spite of myself sometimes.

Damn, I always wondered who his stylist was, gay or what.

Even HitmanHaton1 would not wear that, and he wears CUTAWAY LEATHER CHAPS, Allegedly.

The write up in The Guardian yesterday summed it all up well in my opinion...if it was online i would stick it up but can't find it. Mayweather made a tool of himself, round 1 to the calmer, slicker Hatton i think.

Thanks for posting some of the press conference links guys, I've been on holiday so missed all that.

Certainly got me in the mood for the fight again and enquiring about tickets and flights etc...

Just a hunch, but I suspect you might find it a tad troublesome to get a fight ticket.
