Bobby Castro

Post by Palais »

I'm pretty convinced we have Bob Castro divided in two different records. One is Bob Castro (of Mexico) a californian middleweight who fought many of the best on the West Coast, 1940-49. The other is Bobby Castro, who blowed up to a Light Heavy / Heavyweight, 1950-53.
Can anyone confirm this?
:-?

Palle, I just entered about 20 fights for Bob Castro for 1946-47. I think you're right about the double entry, however (at the risk of sounding like a Pentagon official) at this time im unable to confirm nor deny it.

Yeah, I noticed your editions, thank you. I should be able to pick up some revues of his fights in the 50's to can confirm it. I was basicly turning to someone who keeps RRB's 1950-51-52. I'm currently sweaping up heavyweight action from 1950-70 reported in The Ring, issue by issue, (right now at Oct -50). I will time out to check anything on the Bonavena-Benassi fight(s).
Bueno!

I checked RRB 1953 and Bob Castro (California Middleweight) is listed with only 3 fights in 1952 and no relation to the Mexican Bobby Castro that is listed on RRB 1949.

Since Castro (or the Castros) fought mainly in So. California I think the best bet is to check out newspaper reports of the time.
