Fair enough on Eubank-McCallum. I may have read something and taken it out of context.
I had Kalambay beating Collins clear enough. When Kalambay went to the body he hurt Collins; that was Collins' weakness. Boxing News had it 1 point to Kalambay which I thought was a bit lenient on Collins.
Benn was never the same post McClellan, but may have been made for the swarming Collins. When Collins went up to 168 he was frigging massive.
I think the bottom line is Steve was very good but not great.
Hatton can follow my warrior lead: Collins

Eubank would have had quite significant physical advantages over McCallum, he was absolutely bull strong at 160 and 168, a real beast of a man, only Collins was bigger at 168 from all the super middleweights I remember from that era.STP wrote:Actually, Eubank said in Dec '89 that the only two fighters in the world he wouldn't fight were Graham and Nunn. When asked after the first Benn fight about McCallum, he said he'd be gunning for him.Autobarn wrote:and McCallum. Few wanted to fight McCallum - a great fighter - who had Eubank running scared. Toney was the most feared fighter, along with Benn, on that list.
In Boxing World June '91 edition he mentions him as well, saying he wouldn't beat him if he did what Michael Watson did which was stand in front of him, but that McCallum's legs were going and his (Eubank's) strength was 'abnormal' (think that was the word) because of his ancestors or some shit. He said only southpaws worried him at 160.
It would have been very tight at 160 or 168, McCallum was the older man and was also a small middleweight and super middleweight who relied on his skills to offset his lack of physical strength at the weight.
