Frank Bybee

Post by Chauncy »

A friend of mine has asked me to look into his record as there is a major error and he would like to get it fixed.

His name is Frank Bybee and he had a fight August 17, 2002 and he fought Tony Jiminez, and you have it listed as a loss, when it was really split decision win for Frank Bybee.
I have contacted the promoter Bob Oleson, and the commission and they both agree that the result is in fact a win for Frank Bybee.

You can contact the commission for this result, but can we please get it resolved quick as he is catching some flack from other commissions saying he has to many losses, and also, he would just like to clear it up anyways.

Thanks fellas

 Another Catch-22 for BoxRec.
The Oregon commission hasn’t sent us the results of that show though they did report
it to FightFax who is the USA Association of Boxing Commissions “Official” registry.

The present source of this error is Frank Bybee’s record in the 2007 FightFax RB p.126.

In order to receive official results from commissions, we had to agree with the ABC in 2004
not to change their data unless a new report (addendum) was received from them.

It is up to Frank Bybee or U to contact and request them to send BoxRec the info ASAP.
We will make the proper corrections immediately upon receiving the info.

If the un-cooperating commissions would interpret the Ali law correctly, We wouldn’t
Be having this problem.
Professional Boxing Safety Act of 1996
(FEDERAL BOXING ACT)
TITLE 15. COMMERCE AND TRADE
CHAPTER 89. PROFESSIONAL BOXING SAFETY
http://www.dca.ca.gov/csac/statutes_reg ... lact.shtml
§ 6301. DEFINITIONS.
For purposes of this chapter:
(1) Boxer. The term "boxer" means an individual who fights in a professional boxing match.
(2) Boxing commission. (A) The term "boxing commission" means an entity authorized under State law to regulate professional boxing matches.
(3) Boxer registry. The term "boxer registry" means an entity certified by the Association of Boxing Commissions for the purposes of maintaining records and identification of boxers.
§ 6307. REPORTING.
Not later than 48 business hours after the conclusion of a professional boxing match, the supervising boxing commission shall report the results of such boxing match and any related suspensions to each boxer registry.
History: (Oct. 9, 1996, P.L. 104-272, § 8, 110 Stat. 3311.)

In 2004 ABC President Tim Lueckenhoff on the home page of the official site of the Association of Boxing Commissions announced;
http://web.archive.org/web/200410280035 ... oxing.com/
“ There were many significant motions passed at the annual meeting which affect the membership. The most significant resolution was that all the membership is required to submit their boxing results to the three boxing registries, Fight Fax, Inc., Boxrec.Com and International Brotherhood of Prizefighters”.

The reality is everybody in the boxing community (Including the commissions) uses BoxRec.
(Up to 65,000 hits a day.) The more people who call the commissions and ask them to cooperate
with BoxRec
, the more accurate the data will be.

I'll get to work on it.
Until all this, I didn't even know fightfax existed anymore. I've been with you guys for quite some time and forgot about them. :TU:
