Great Britian Have Named there Team for the Senior World Championships which take place in Chicago USA on October 23rd- November 4th.
This Event also doubles up as an Olympic Qualifying Event.

Quarterfinal is enough except in heavy and super heavyweight where you have to medal to advance to the olympics.

Its a shame the Cubans won't be at the finals, and going by past history most of the boxers that defect don't make for successful pro's.
Joel Casamayor is probably the most successful champion in recent times, all the rest have been nearly men , such as Jorge Luis Gonzalez, Ramón Garbey (who was with Joel when defecting) and Diosbelys Hurtado.

Juan Carlos Gómez is another exception to the rule , but they are few and far between.

I don't think they should bother with light-heavyweight. Jeffries is not good enough, and the current ABA champ Obed Mbwakango is not strong enough to fend off any decent powerful fighter. I was chatting on friday night at York Hall with an amateur who says that the Fisher boxer is basically tall with long arms and just pit-a-pats his punches. Jeffries is a bit too crude and hasn't made a mark at any international tourney if memory serves.

Well there is no harm in someone getting the experiance at top level the expiriance of traveling abroad and the training for the event.
