Some big names are gonna take an "opposition quality" penalty in the next week or two.

Shane Mosley - this weekend
Joe Calzaghe - next weekend
Chris John - next weekend

John's is gonna be huge.

All probably rightfully so... Can't wait to hear the Brits complain if Calzaghe falls below Kessler :)

New Release:

- division move-up and down controlled by maximum achieved rating in division
- use maximum of opponents' divisions for bout division, where no bout division available - but changes boxers divisions only, when bout division available

Especially moving down in weight not automatically means a better rating.

This has some impact to the Current Ratings and to the All Time Ratings.

For some reason, Joppy was given points before the McClendon bout. Division related?

I am trying to run this again with bout division but test server is acting strange.

Yes -division related -

- bout against Corn was assigned to Cruiserweight
- bout against McClendon was assigned to Super Middleweight - and Joppy had a high rating in Super Middleweight before - so the rating could go up when descending the divisions

So multiple ratings can be stored for boxers at different divisions? This makes sense. Boxers are no longer double punished for taking tuneup bouts at higher divisions.

How are inactivity and opposition quality penalties handled? At time of penalty all division ratings are penalized?

A bit of research turns up that this was in fact at least a Light Heavyweight bout.

Joppy weighed 179.5, McClendon weighed 175.

Notice in the last two bouts, points were the same for Super Middle & Light Heavy. Is that just a coincidence?

The mechanism is - the boxer has a:

- current rating
- a move up limit, set before his last move down
- a move down limit, set before his last move up

- moving up, the boxer can keep his current rating, but cut by his move up limit
- moving down, the boxer can increase his current rating weighted by the square ratio of division weight limits, but cut by his move down limit

- penalties have no impact to the limits - but should be considered perhaps

I think limits should be penalized or reduced using some method.

Do this have to do with anomalies I noticed this morning? I changed the weight classes of a few South African fighters and guys were being ranked behind fighters they had just beaten.

For example, Gideon Buthelezi at minimumweight - I dropped him from Light Fly, yet he is still nine points behind Thobani Mbangani, who he beat last month. I saw at least one more like this.
