In regards to the Holmes-Tyson fight, for those 3 rounds before Tyson KO'd Holmes. Holmes was more game and competitive than Ali was at any stage in the Ali-Holmes fight. Sure it went longer, but Tyson went for the kill, whereas Holmes clearly was reluctant on a great mant occasions.
Holmes atleast landed a punch. Let alone threw one.
As for Patterson as a fighter, it was after that he lost his title that he took on a more reckless appraoch to opponents. Sure he wasn't the biggest guy or had the sturdiest chin. But when he moved he looked good. The trouble was as the years wore on he became less active and would rely on flurries and spurts, as well as loaded up power shots to get the job done and this sadly cost him the nod on more than one occasion. (Ellis, Quarry).

Sorry I mis-read...was at work when I posted.
I agree...I think realistically Holmes is one of the few champs in history that could beat a peak Tyson.
Though I know there are a few forum members here who think that Sullivan or Jefferies would have been able to lick them both one after the other.
