Standing bag?

Post by Big Ben »

Hey guys,

I've moved recently and my ceiling can't support a heavy bag. So my eyes fell on a standing bag. Now the question is: Do they work at all? I'm concerned that that thing will just slide away after one punch.

It's a German shop but it's quite similar to this one here:

For the record, I'm a 200lbs amateur and as I mentioned, I don't know if the bag is useful at all or just a waste of money.

Any feedback is welcome, thanks in advance,

It is better than nothing. Big guys usually hit too hard and knock them over, but if you use it to work on speed instead of power it can have some usefulness.

There are better ones out there. Look on the Rinside.com page and there is one with a more narrow base with the body of the bag that moves in all directions.

You could also try a heavybag stand and hang your bag from it.

The above is an example of one from Ringside.

Hey guys,

thanks for the replies. The problem is as usual money. Your solutions are nice but I simply can't afford them..:/

On occasion you can score used items like this on E-bay. Worth a shot if your finances are the issue.

Thats what I have. It works fine, but you have to invest in some heavy weight to keep it stable.

I don't know if its just me but i hate standing bags.
