A comeforward type - tends to eat pucnhes but got a cast iron chin and can really whack.Max Molyneux wrote:Sam Peter would get outboxed by anyone one with decent skills, whats McCall like?
I see it as quite an exciting ish fight - tough to call. McCall hates jabbers movers (lost a wide decision to Larry Donald). Likes the forward plodding types... as does Peter.
Both have sound chins. Very sound.
I could see it a bit like Skelton vs Williams 1 - skills and artistry out of the window.
Reports saying its going to be McCline. I am quite glad actually, whilst he didn't deserve a title shot (far from it) vs Valuev - he got it and it ended unsatisfactorly. I am glad he's got this chance.
Actually has a bit of a chance, his chin is very good - even if he fights in a shell. Can be intimidated, but Peter doesn't have the speed of punch of Calvin Brock and doesn't have either the skills or physical pressence of a Valuev or Klitchsko. Peter is pretty average, but for his punch wouldn't be near the top ten.

Yep. Peter surprised everyone by OUTBOXING Toney 2nd time around. He has some talent, but is definitely lacking something. He's done nothing since that 2nd Toney fight. He should have had tune ups to develop what ability he has. Next time we see him he'll probably be a fat bastard with no skills again.

I had Peter winning the first fight also, was alot closer than the 2nd one though. And also it shows that Peter can listen and adapt to new skills, because he showed a vast inprovment in the 2nd Toney fight.
Peter is never going to be the most skillful heavyweight, but he has shown that he's got better , He also seems to have a level head on those big shoulders.

not quite easy. it was very close and Toney's case was hurt by him getting countered by right hands and stumpling around like a fatman with no legs. Looking back at Toney-Peter 1 it's fair to say they were both so bad that maybe neither deserved it.Max Molyneux wrote:He did easily In the 1st fight though.Old bones Ian wrote:James Toney although small for a heavy has very good skills , and he couldn't outbox Peter.Max Molyneux wrote:Sam Peter would get outboxed by anyone one with decent skills, whats McCall like?

Which makes Peter's 2nd win more impressive, who honestly thought Peter would win on points comfortably? He improved so much between those fights.Max Molyneux wrote:I couldn't give Peter more than 3 rounds In the first fight, he was getting shoulder rolled and counter quite easy I thought. Peter was mostly just pressing foward and only landing on Toney's shoulders.
He came in lighter, fitter and stronger.
Peter is the only heavy to give Klitschko a decent fight recently. I'd love to see those 2 go at it again.
Peter's problem is he thinks the loss to Wlad was all down to the ref who let Wlad hold. To a certain extent, yes, but he cannot fathom that it's also because he's a slow, one dimensional, wide swinging meat head.Old bones Ian wrote:Which makes Peter's 2nd win more impressive, who honestly thought Peter would win on points comfortably? He's probably thanking Jesus again that he's In with a non threat.

You have got to be kidding. He'll be lucky to win a belt even in the current climate.
As for the interim championship being awarded what a joke! It's bad enough when they make an interim championship fight when a champion is injured but to quite simply hand an interim belt to a guy who hasn't fought in 9 months is beyond a joke! What a shambles.
Tua's never won a belt despite beating some future title holders eg Ruiz, Maskaev. He never will. Lennox Lewis tormented him.
Lewis did an anti-bum-of-the-month. The US media took the piss out of Joe Louis' challengers. Whereas they frequently predicted that anyone half dangerous was going to spark Lennox and end his career (Golota, Grant, Tua, and so on, though LL didn't fight anything close to every month of course).
