Warren answers Sinclair....

PROMOTER allegedly today gave a clear indication that Neil Sinclair needs to quickly get his career back on track if he is to have a future at World level.
Warren said that he was prepared to still work with Sinclair, despite being annoyed with the former British champion after he pulled out of his clash with Jimmy Vincent, who now faces Eamonn Magee on Saturday night.
"I'll work with him, he's a nice guy but he has to work with me," insisted Warren, who has more fighters than television slots to use them on.
"If Neil is disillusioned then so am I. He won a Lonsdale belt under me. He had a chance to fight for the WBU title but chose to win a Lonsdale belt, which is a nice honour but as I told him you can't show that to the bank manager.
"The reason the fight with Vincent was brought forward was to give him more exposure because I was trying to sell him.
"Life is too short. Frank Bruno sat around 14 months before fighting for the world title but it came good for him in the end."
Warren has the power to push him into the right fight but an expected victory for Magee on Saturday night will eliminate the WBU path for Sinclair, who has not fought since February when he won the Lonsdale belt outright.
The decision to not fight for the vacant title at the Odyssey seems to have cost him dearly.
It seems that a fight early in the New Year would get him back on course but time may be starting to run out for the hard-hitting 28-year-old.

I think that piece tells us more about allegedly than it does Sinclair.

Yes. I would proudly show a Lonsdale Belt to my bank manager. And anyone. The WBU belt? Forget it.

Sinclair may not be able to show his Lonsdale belt to the bank manager, but the next time I see him at a card I hope to tell him I am honoured to meet someone that chose a Lonsdale over a WBU.

Bennie - I see we replied at the same time - great minds think alike.

Who from BN is going to the Atlantic City card - be good to meet up with them for a beer/coffee afterwards (although I can't really see Claude in the Irish Bar on the Boardwalk...)

Danny Herbert is going for BN, Loynesy. Flying out from Heathrow. Not sure where's he's stopping in Atlantic City.

But doesn't that show you how devalued the British title has become and I tell you what, I know being British champion would be a dream come true for me if I was a pro, but if winning the WBU belt and winning a couple of defenses meant I could pay off my mortgage I know what I'd be fighting for.

The romantic idea of being British, European then world champion is great, but the majority of the pros know that ain't going to happen as it's very difficult, plus, most of them ain't got the skills. Plus, they don't get too many chances to earn good money and the jump in purse money from eight-rounders to being WBU champ is a lot when you consider how short their careers are.

At the end of the day boxing's a fornicating tough business, and any boxer with any sense should be out to get as much money as he can and get out of the game while the going is good. I mean, a manager's job is to get the most money for (and out of) his fighter before he's through. I don't mean that in a bad way but show me a boxing manager who's in it just for a laugh and I'll show you a manager who's not going to last long, or someone who's already made a fortune and hasn't got any financial concerns.

Its up to the Promoters and the TV companies to start marketing the British Title again.

The days when audiences went wild over British or even European title fights are gone. With the proliferation of massive sporting occasions on the TV, from yachting to athletics, fornicating carp fishing, curling, world snail racing, boxing is competing against so much more than it did back in the 50's when you just had your terrestrial channels.

Most people cannot be fucked to watch a British title, when there are fake 'world' title belts. I don't think sadly, those days will ever return, as allegedly rightly pointed out, it's the TV companies who are desperate to put the tag 'world title bout' on their shows, they just aren't as interested in anything else, it doesn't look as glam.

And it would appear that they can't charge as much for advertising when it's only a domestic title on the line.
