Vitali Klitschko builds up to his fight with Kirk Johnson by saying Lennox Lewis is scared of a rematch against him.

An in shape Lewis would kill him, As soon as he warmed up Lewis took over, he was walking through Klitschko after the 2nd. by the by I had it even on the cards, K took 1,2,5 Lewis 3,4,6.

What? I remember how Lewis flopped down on his stool. He was spent. Everyone watching with me LOL, it was hilarious.

He didn't look ready to take control of anything, let alone a heavyweight fight.

If the fight had gone on much longer, Lewis would have been in trouble. If he had prepared like he should have done, this would not have been the case...but then again, if Lewis came to every fight prepared, then he would be an all time great.

Recalling an incident doesn't make someone a "Nut Hugger" last time I looked.

yeah Lewis flopped on the stool but klits took an age to walk back to his, LL landed the hard punches and was catching him more and more. Still could've gone either way but in better shape Lewis would beat him, no doubts.

Personally I felt Lewis was really starting to get to VK and agree with Manny Steward who felt VK was ready to be stopped within a couple of rounds.

It's very dull this because whichever way the Hun/Bosche/Teuton/Red/Commie/insert your own stereotype here cuts it HE LOST.

He got bashed up, cut up and stopped.

Any "moral" victory he erroneously claims must be underlined by EIGHTY ODD STITCHES CAUSED BY PUNCHES.

Real Champions have occasional challenges against "live" opponents - and come through them - that is why they are champs.

VK had his chance (like McCall & Rachman) and BLEW IT.

I bet he is starting to get annoyed and taking potshots at Lennox - He blew the biggest chance of his life!!!!!!!!

He could have been the Linear champ - a white one and a well handled one (in terms of promotion) - he could have made BILLIONS!!!!

But he blew it and got stopped - I am repeating myself for lovers (the blinkered kind - ie most of them it appears) of the Klit boys - because they sometimes seem to struggle with the fact that WLAD GOT SMASHED and VITALI GOT BUTCHERED.

I was taking the piss actually Priff. Lewis slumping down on his stool meant nothing. Of course he was tired, how many 18 stoners wouldn't be after a grueling battle like that?

Glyn Leach summed it up perfectly in BM. What was Lewis supposed to do? Run around the ring a couple of times? Do a few press-ups? Wait for Klitschko to sit down first? It was just professional corner work to get the stool in and get the champ sat down as quickly as possible.

If people want to interpret it as Lewis's attempt to get on the stool as quickly a possible, fair play to them. It was too funny to watch because as far as I am concerned he was obviously f*cked.

I know it doesn't matter seeing as how he smashed Kits face to bits, but an (as expected) under prepared lewis was getting extremely tired and I can't agree with this "warming to the task" stuff.

As far as I am concerned, Lewis finished the job just in time.

Still think Lewis should have come back and tried to put things beyond doubt, but at his age, with his money, and after such a struggle in that fight, I can't blame him for thinking 'I can't be doing this anymore'.

Always got the idea that although totally dedicated to boxing (maybe apart from two or three of his fights) boxing is not the love of his life in the way it is for, say, Evander Holyfield.

Like Ken Norton and Earnie Shavers, I think Lewis found boxing as a way out and used the physical talent he was given to succeed in the sport but was more of a competitor first, and lover of the sport second.

Might be totally wrong, just an opinion.

Priff I think it's pretty laughable that you'd assume Lewis couldn't keep on fighting despite having gone 12 rounds plenty of times before. He's always had a tendency to look knackered in his contests. Look at the Mavrovic fight - he was gasping after 2 rounds but still made it to the end easily. If there's one thing Lewis knows how to do it's to win fights even when he's shot his bolt.

Yeah he looked even worse than normal last time but then Klitschko hardly looked fit as a fiddle as they approached the second half of that fight. And it was Lewis who had Vitali hurt and holding on about 10 seconds from the end with a quick right hook in close.

Klitschko got the best result possible, another couple of rounds and he'd have been out of there which would've eliminated the chance to press for a rematch and bitch about Lennox for months afterwards.

Whatever, I still get the feeling that if Vitali beats Kirk Johnson as is expected, Lewis will agree to one last dance and give him a rematch next year.

I don't see the re-match as any kind of concern.

I feel that Lewis was also TACTICALLY "out of shape" against Klitscko and feel he'll want to jab early, mix less and soften him up properly this time - he seemed tothink he was one punch away from a KO last time around - and Vit's chin ain't Wlad's!

Personally I think he should stay retired - after all hew has beaten Klit already - I wouldn't object to him returning to do a job on Wlad though.

He has a tendancy to look lethargic and lazy during the rounds. I don't recall ever seeing him look so spent after a round. I still think he was knackered and your gonna have to find some way to live with that.

i fully concur. i for one had the fight even and felt lewis was getting to klitschko. klitschko was tougher than expected but in the end he looked like he had slept face down on a buthers slab.

lewis is pushing 40, hes entitled to 'slump' on his stool in a tough fight- klitschko walked to his corner like a dejected and tired man, but hes the young guy!!
